Yes, there are a couple of us who are in 2nd stage processing. Accra, Sydney...not sure who else.

I wouldn't worry about it too much. They don't really have a record of when you left. I overstayed myself. My one year VR expired in Aug 2008 and I stuck around till I got in trouble crossing the border in January of this year. They chewed me out for 15 minutes then just issued me another VR. She gave me three months to get my app in and I didn't make it as my medical was delayed because the Dr was sick!!! So they chewed me out for 20 minutes and issued me a new one :P Now I need to go back at the end of Aug with proof it's in process AND to make sure I get a Student Visa for my son. I've been stupid this whole process but I am not stressing about it till they say NO. Then I'll appeal :P

Wow...I am so glad I am not the only one here lol :) I was re-admitted in to Canada 1 1/2 ago and have been here on a valid VR ever since! I am waiting for a new VR in the next few weeks! :D When I came back into Canada I was sent to Immigration at the airport..I thought I was being sent home..the IO told me to make sure I did not stay after my expiry date in my passport again (so I extended my stay). My problem is that I added a letter from my dad to PR application to confirm my relationship and that he has met my Husband..in the letter he stated that I went home to England and stayed at his house because my visa had expired!! ::) With holding this information means I would have misrepresented myself and face a 2 year ban from Canada :o

Nothing to be done about it now. Just try not to stress too much. It won't help a thing in the long run! I had my 8 year old in school without a Student Visa for two years and that is grounds for inadmissibility right there. All I can do at this point is make sure he gets one come August for the next year and hope that it won't have that much of an effect. Only time will tell and I will blithely go on about my business until they tell me otherwise! Like I said, I wasn't being smart. I was burying my head in the sand, but I've fixed everything I could and that's all I can do at this point! :D

what is the second stage?

Vervain, I love love love your attitude. Do you give lessons? Am trying to cultivate that "oh well, we've done our best, bring it on" attitude. I just wish they'd come and spend a day with us, then they'd just know. Wouldn't that be perfect?

jillandmatt,

second stage is when your application starts processing at the local visa office. Of course, this is for outland apps only. Not sure about the stages of inland.

ok then I am in second stage since 24 June -- Buenos Aires office.. :)

Second stage for INLAND applicants is the same except their application is forwarded to Mississauga around the 8 month mark, then possibly a local office for the applicants region if there are too many in process!

Hey, thanks!! It's how I try to live my life in general. Don't get me wrong I have my breakdowns too but they generally last an hour, are accompanied but a torrent of tears and then it's all better :D

It's definitely easier for me than for some. If I was from a 3rd world nation I imagine I would be much more worried, since it seems the default is suspicion in those cases. I know we are genuine and I am not trying to better my life, things are pretty much equal on both sides of the equation for us. I'd just like to have my family all on one side of the bridge and my hubs is NOT keen on moving to the States :P

It is a sad realization that people from Common wealth countries and richer countries like the US find it far easier to Immigrate..its sad because some of the people from 3rd world nations are genuine and do just want to be with their spouse!!

Our application is going through Berlin.
They must be working on it already I guess (not sure though)
I recieved a letter saying:
The immigration section is returning the enclosed documents:
- photographs,
- letters and postcards,
- telephone bills,
At this time, these documents are not required for the continued processing of your file.

Any ideas on this being good or bad news?

The Netherlands - Spain? 2-1

I think that's great news! If they are sending your evidence back it means that they have deemed your relationship to be genuine. No interview! Now all they have to do is background check and look at medicals, and if all is well, you will be getting your PPR soon. Congratulations!

Thats Awesome Congrats..lets hope for a quick background check and your PR soon :D

Has your ecas changed to 'in process' at Buenos Aires yet?

yes it says in process -- since the 24th of June.. which means they must have super speedy transfer services b/c i was sent the approval letter on the 22nd..

"we've started processing XXXXXXXX application on June 24th 2010"

something like that.. I'm always checking... for changes..

AND when i emailed them with an updated form that I screwed up on.. they were so great about it (I think) and confirmed receipt and I can only assume updated the file..
