Hi every one i am glad to see that May Thread is started coz we r sending our file today or tomorrow.
so now we all on same boat and i hope we will help each other in this journey :)

All the best

Yay rocky! Inland or outland, and which visa office?

Hoping to join you here soon! I just returned home from a trip to Nigeria to marry my husband. I am working on printing all the evidence from his side, as he put it all on a memory stick for me, so my printer has been going like crazy for the last two days. We filled in all the applications while we were together, so I have to get wedding/honeymoon pics printed, and then assemble the entire thing into something that makes sense.

I was hoping to have it sent off on Monday, but husband says to wait a bit, as he doesn't want me putting the application together while jetlagged. Middle of May for sure though.

Our office is Accra, which is the 2nd slowest in the world, so I'll be hanging out here for quite some time. :)

Good luck to everyone!

Ours should be arriving at the CPC-Missisauga tomorrow -- very excited to start the process!!

We're filing Outland via Lima office, both of us living together outside of Canada. Hoping to move to Toronto together early next year, pending approval!

Bob's Wife-I've heard how annoying that visa office is. Best of luck to you!! Are you going to have to be seperated through the process? I've been in an LD relationship with my hubby since I was 18 and it's so tough.. (although it wasn't nearly as long as Africa to N.America!) but it really makes you both stronger people and you appreciate each other more :) Come here to vent anytime!!

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
From the time we started dating until getting married I was lucky enough to visit him in London 7 times, and then once in Nigeria after he moved back home. Our longest time apart was 4 months. Last year was an exceptional year though, as I had an inheritance come in and had the funds to travel and was able to take quite a bit of time off work.

2010 is looking different though...I just got back from Nigeria and used my 2 weeks holidays for the year, so it is likely I will not see him again until January 2011, which breaks my heart. I so badly wish he could get a TRV, we would never have him overstay, I would like for him to just get to visit here for a month and get to meet my family and his step-children who he already loves dearly but has never met.

I'm emotional and sad this week because leaving him in Nigeria on Sunday night was the hardest thing I have ever done. I don't think I've ever cried so much in my life...the flight attendants must have thought I was crazy because I had tears in my eyes for most of the 11 hour flight to New York, and was quietly sobbing while trying not to bother the other passengers.

Sigh...it will get better, I am sure. ;)

Bless your heart.. I can't imagine. Hoping and praying for a good and fast outcome for you! Do you guys have computers with webcams? You can at least video chat using Skype or something and be able to see each other that way..

Oh yes, sometimes it feels like our entire relationship is on webcam! We Skype 3 hours or so each day, but since he returned to Nigeria a month ago it is harder as he hasn't found an internet provider that has consistant signal, so their is a delay, which makes really talking over webcam difficult.

I keep thinking about couples who are apart for a long time with no communication, soldiers, etc, and try to remember how lucky we are to be able to talk to each other every day. We are just so eager to begin our lives together and start a family. It feels like we have won the lottery but can't spend the money for a few years...we know we have this wonderful thing in our future, but we just can't have it yet.

I am not a patient woman (I will buy something full-price knowing it goes on sale tomorrow!) so this has been quite the test for me. Some of my friends and family have wondered why I am bothering, but they can never fully understand what it is between us, and how throwing this away because I don't want to wait would have haunted me for the rest of my life.

"Oh yes, sometimes it feels like our entire relationship is on webcam! We Skype 3 hours or so each day,"

it is so funny that you say that. Even after 12 years of marriage our preferred method of communication is text messages because that is how our relationship began! lol

Hi Sbwv09,
today we send our file to Mississauga. so now 1st stage gonna take 25 or 30 days right?
it's out land application CIC New Delhi.

I think the sponsorship part is taking a bit longer now.. 6 weeks or so, but some people still get them faster from what I've seen over in the March thread.

We generally use the phone to communicate.. he likes chat better, but I think it's impersonal and just prefer hearing his voice more than typing.

So i Finally sent out my application today after 3 days of not sleeping good trying to put everything toghether lets see what happends now. The Only missing Document missing was the Option C print out but i wrote a letter letting them know that i called canada reveneu 4 times and i was always on hold for more than 15 min (Thats how long my break at work is) and i had to hang up the phone to go back to work and by the time i finish work is to late already to call. I did send a copy of my 2009 tax return and a job letter from my current employeer and all my 2010 paystubs hope this help and i dont get the papers back asking me for this option c print out.

bobshynoswife, hang in there! I know all too well how hard it is to have such a LD relationship with someone from a non-visa exempt country. I spent the first year and a half visiting him every 3-4 months, which was hard enough. We'd chat via MSN/webcam for hours, which made things a little easier. But then after we got married in November, I left 2 days after and I haven't been able to see him since. I can only chat with him on MSN once a week, for up to 2 hours, and he can phone me once a week for up to 15 minutes (he's currently in the military doing mandatory duties). But he received his visa 2 weeks ago, and his service is finished May 17 so things are looking up!!!
This process really tests your patience, but in the end, it is sure worth the wait!! Good luck ;) ;)

Hey everyone,
So I finally sent our application out today express via Canada Post! Now, the wait begins...I'm sponsoring my husband from Barbados. Hope all goes well for all of us here!!
Yay!

Javcil, I'm glad the wait is over.. I would hate to have such a restriction on times we could talk, it must have been hard.. but there's a light at the end of your tunnel, for sure!

bob'swife, I've gotten "Why, what are you thinking?" so many times.. particularly since I'm leaving my job here and there's a teaching surplus there so I probably won't work in my field.. but everyone here understands that it's so worth it to be with your love.. his job is better there, and nobody in WV will ever pay him over 20 bucks an hour to landscape, lol, so here we are :)

Headed to Toronto today after a doctor's appointment (yep, playing hooky from work!) and plan on shipping everything from there either tomorrow or Monday. Don't look forward to paying those fees :P Sometimes I feel like it's all a money racket.. I expect better service if I pay 1000 bucks :P

I have to suggest NOT to use UPS to ship the paperwork.. hubby left his wallet and I tried to ship it.. it got there about 2 weeks late after they lost it twice and sent it back to customs twice.. terrible service!!!
