I'm in Quebec and currently sponsoring Husby who's in China.

Hello All,

My husband is filling the IMM5490 Spouse Questionaire. For question 28, it asks whether he is living with sponsor (me) ? If NO, then it asks the date when the sponsor returned to Canada !?@?!

I have never lived with my husband in his country. We both went back to India for our wedding, and came back together to US, where he lives, but I drove back to Canada since I work/live here. So what do I write for this question ? Also, at one place it asked if the sponsor came to your country for wedding, I went to India which is his and mine Country of citizenship, but I didnt travel to his country (of residence). So the answer should be NO, right?

@ Asif & Gary - Congrats on getting your applications in! That's very exciting. I've added you both to the list, so we'll be able to see each other's progress.

@ Gary - Now we wait for the Sponsorship portion of our applications to be approved. Right now, that's taking about a month. That'll be the first positive step towards getting our PR.

@Sparkle - Hi Sparkle. I'm sorry, I don't know the answers to your questions. I'm not familiar enough with that situation. Maybe those would be good questions to ask in the general forum, so more people will see them. Someone out there should be able to help you.

Yeah I send my application on dec 4th and post Canada showed that they've received it on dec 7th. I supposed we don't get a letter that they received our application?

you do not get a letter the only work you will get is when you are accepted as a sponsor you can see on line a few day before you recieve the letter in the mail that you were accepted

For question 28:
answer NO, since you dont live together and for the date write the date you left US to drive back to canada. ATTACH sheet with explanation, because everyone's situation is different, and it's hard to answer those general question applied for standart relationships.

I don't know the answer to your next question, both YES and NO would be true, but which one is correct I am not sure :
Just ATTACH SHEET with explanations always where you have problems with answers. o
or call CIC and ask them...

Just a quick update. According to the Processing Times: Family Sponsorship page, as of yesterday (December 15) they're working on applications received on November 16. Two more weeks and they should start getting to our group.

hehe I'm starting to think that people are spending their time getting ready for the holidays rather than their immigration! I thought we'd have more people submit their applications this month.

I hope this means everyone will have happy holidays... and that the applications will go through a little more quickly!
