My apologies Kaycee1
But tell Immigration & Citizenship Canada to improve wording and make it easier for ppl to choose the right app and give ppl options..

This is directly from their CIC website:

Depending on whether your relatives live inside or outside Canada, the application kits for sponsorship and permanent residence are different.
1) If your spouse, partner or accompanying dependent child lives with you in Canada, use the Application for Permanent Residence in Canada—Spouse or Common-law Partner.
2) If your spouse, partner or dependent child lives abroad, use the Application to Sponsor a Member of the Family Class.

As for ur case: you are using app kit 2 because 2 is outland as per the above. However ur spouse is in Canada living with. Thats not what 2 says..I just went according to their website. Thanks!

Ppl ask i copied right frm their website. Thats where ppl should be looking themselves or call them.
It is confusing tho but its not my doing. As per ur response i was not incorrect! I can include the link. Obviously there r exceptions but Imm n Citz Canada doesnot mention other options (to start) when u go to "How to Apply"!!!!

If someone was in your shoes, frm their description below theyd thinktheir only option was to do app. kit 1 (below) which is Inland. When they have outland as an option too so clearly immigration n citizenship Canada's creates confusion.

I am being sponsored by my husband outland but I am also here in canada as a visitor. I chose outland because of the faster processing times and I read somewhere that outland or inland just means the office where the application is processed.
I agree though, the wording does make it seem as though if you're in canada, then you apply inland and vice versa.

Thank you! Their wording does create confusion. No wonder ppl have to ask for clarification.

When i lived w/ my husband i didnt even know i could have stayed there with him to sponsor..as i am canadian citizen so i can sponsor frm abroad. I thought i had to come bk to canada to sponsor. And i ended doing that. Altho im now going bk. No point in being separated if we dont have to be.

I recently learned that u can do what ur doing too Pinklady! And MY husband has come on visitors visas to canada but he has a great job in india so he couldnt stay in canada during the whole sponsorship process.. only come for vacations. He needs to keep his job there til he gets PR n comes here!

I only found out I could do what i'm doing after I did it haha, does that make sense.
I come here as a visitor and don't officially live here so have an address in the UK aswell (my parents address). So based on the processing times and the freedom to travel, right of appeal etc, I chose the outland route.
The immigration documentation should be much clearer about what people can and can't do.

Thanks for letting us know, Kulilit! You're the first to hear anything after the sponsorship approval. I'm glad. I was starting to get a little bit worried. :)

Everyone keep us updated if you hear anything. I hope things are going well for all of you.

Yes! ecas tells me that our application was received on January 19 and that medicals were received as well. Does that mean it is now "in progress" or is that a separate deal?
Also, does anyone know whether we stand a chance of having a fast process at the Mexico City VO because they recently denied me a TRV? (Maybe since I applied recently and they already have all that info on us?)

It's nice to see some progress.

"In process" will be the next update you'll see on eCAS, however, Mexico VO should send your AOR soon. You will receive a letter to get the Carta de Antecedentes Registrales from the PGR in Mexico City.

Don't worry about your denied TRV, it won't affect your PR process.

Good luck!

Hi all , I got an eCas update today saying my husband's medical results have been received. It also says that they received his application for permanent residence on January 20th. I assume this is the Paris office stating they have received the application? In our sponsorship approval letter they said our file had been transferred. I hope this means we'll all be done soon!
