@ abisehiyo - Welcome to the December 2010 Thread! Congrats on getting your application in. I think mine is due in Mississauga on Monday as well. You've made some great time if you've only been married for two months. I'll add your name to our list and we'll keep track of the progress we make. It'll be interesting to see the inland process vs. the outland. Where are you immigrating from?

@ Riyko - My husband took me to Bon Echo Provincial Park late in the summer. It isn't exactly the same, but they have some great cliffs there that almost feel like mountains. We also went to Hell Holes, which has some great ravines. Both are a great afternoon/day/overnight trip, depending on where you're from.

Hi quakingaspen,

Thanks for starting this thread. I want to join you guys since I sent my application today to Mississauga. FedEx guarantees a Monday delivery.
Hope thats a pretty straight case and does not take too long, but we will see.
I am living in the US right now but will use Vienna as my VO since thats my home country.

Would you like to start a spreadsheet as in the Oct and Nov. thread?

Hello Chrimano! Congrats on getting your application sent off. I know it's a huge relief. It looks like all three of us should have our applications arrive on Monday.

I'd be happy to be the keeper of the spreadsheat. I'll post updates on a weekly basis until most of our group has made it through.

Here's how we're looking so far:

Name VO App Sent App Rec. Spn. Decision In Progress AOR PPR Landed
quakingaspen Buffalo 12/01
abisehiyo Inland 12/02
chrimano Vienna 12/03
maja22 Warsaw 12/03

* PPR = Passport Request
* VO = Visa Office the application is going through
* AOR = Acknowledgement of Receipt

Can't wait to have more people on our list!

I don't mean to be doom and gloom, but you know inland will take you well over a year or more to process, right? If at all possible, Outland is the way to go. You can't work in Canada with either (unless you get a work permit), however, you can stay with your spouse during the process (with outland you file an extension every few months - not likely to be denied). Your outland approval would be done anywhere from 1/4 to 1/3 the time.

Hi, I know it really takes a very long time for the processing of the inland application and also its pros and cons. My husband does not want me to leave Canada even though I told him its quicker for the processing outland. I know somebody that applied outland in the same country I was (Philippines) and it only took them 6 months. I am currently looking for a job here in AB, it is quite hard to get an LMO but I am hoping to get one and be able to work as a nurse in a hospital. :)

@ Abisehiyo - I think we can all understand not wanting to be apart from our loved one! We'll keep our fingers crossed that you can get a job to keep you busy during your wait.

@chrimano - I read about the application process for months, but I didn't start working on my application in earnest until the middle of August. That's when I got my fingerprints for my FBI/Criminal Record check. The last thing we needed to complete our application was the Option C form, and it arrived on Wednesday. We got that box in the mail the same day.

How about you guys? How long did you work on your applications?

We started reading about the immigration and printing papers.
But really hardcore, my wife and I started middle of September this year.
I send my FBI request end of September and started to collect all the "proof of evidence" I needed. That was the easy part since I am living with my wife/sponsor already together for more than 2 years in Europe and the US.
But I really got stressed out after I got the FBI record back and knew now I have to send it.

Started to arrange everything and rearrange again and read the application again and again.
Made sure we did not forget anything and finally copied the whole file (appx. 200pages) - thats what we did the whole last night.
It was not this bad, its just timeconsuming. But it will pay off.... :D

Hey guys, just a question.... They were asking for a police clearance/certificate along with the application as being asked in the document checklist, I was just wondering, should we send the original police certificates then or are we suppose to print and fill up appendix A and B? Because I submitted my originals from canada and philippines. Thanks.

@ chrimano - It is all worth it, that's for sure! I don't remember how many pages we ended up with. I had a hard time trying to figure out how to organize it all, but I thought that what they were looking for was a proof of a continuous, loving relationship. So I just organized it in a time line. And I know what you mean about getting the FBI check back! That really puts you on the clock. The tough part for me was when I'd miss something I didn't realize we needed. We had a little scrambling at that point to get it all together.

@ abisehiyo - I'm sure that sending the original police certificates was the right thing to do. In fact, the forms say "You must attach the original police document(s)." I didn't even open mine. Just submitted them in the envelope they came in.

Hi guys,

I sent my application today as well by Fedex. CPC Mississauga will receive it on Monday. I am gladly joining this Thread, finally all the paperwork is done, in some point I don't even care if we missed anything, I am just glad we mailed it.
I think we started looking at all forms in september. Were preparing to apply inland and everything was ready to mail in October, when I read the document checklist again more carefully (should have done that before :p ) and realized I need my birth sertificate translated and notarized. Didn't have it with me here (Im in canada) so had to get my mom to translate it and mail it to me. While waiting for it to arrive (it took about a month  ) I was getting anxious and thought it might be lost in the mail.So November came and I found this forum! It opened my eyes! To apply outland! Told my husband that we are switching to outland and started all over again . Birth certificate arrived mid November and so we managed to send whole application today. Relief!
So that's my story. put me on the list ;)

hi maja22 welcome to our thread.
I think you made a good decision applying form outland.

@abisehiyo - yes police document / backgroundchecks have to be the originals.

@quakingaspen - if you did not open your police records, how would you know what they wrote? ;) I am sure everything is ok.

@ chrimano - hehe I'm just taking it by faith! No, I actually ordered 3 FBI certificates, in case one got held up, or lost in the mail, or something weird happened. So I had an extra to open and check. ;)

@maja - Hello! Welcome to the December Applicant forum. Congrats on getting your application in! I've added you to our list. :) I can't imagine what it would be like to start over, but I think doing it from outland is a quicker option. My husband and I had that "oops" moment twice when we realized we needed something we weren't aware of (with the FBI form and the Option C form).

This forum has really been a great resource through the application process. I don't think I would have ever finished it all without the answers I got here. I hope you guys will continue to share your knowledge and experience with people to help them get through the process as well.

Hi Dreamer! The forum you're in right now is the forum for people applying for Permanent Residency in the Family Class. We're not really familiar with the process or paperwork for the Skilled Workers category. However, there is a forum for that category. If you go here: http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/skilled-worker-professional-immigration-b4.0/ there should be people who know how to help you.

Good luck with your application!
