My husband had been living in the US illegally from Dec 1999 on, he was brought over with his mom and step-brothers when he was a kid. We lived together here in the states from 2007 to 2009 when we went to Canada, tried to come back and he was detained for 5 hours and I was told our life together as we knew it was over. We'd been under the impression his mom was handling his immigration case and we knew nothing about immigration so... he had to start his life over in Canada without me. He tried to come visit me in July this year, but was told he's banned from the US for another 9 years. I've been fighting to be together since then. (OH boy, just typing that has brought tears to my eyes )

I have more issues with the US than I do Canada, because of what happened to him. They all understand his case, being a minor when he came, but I guess there's nothing they can do about it. All we have is for me to move to Canada. I've never had any trouble visiting him, except last time, the man at the Canadian border seemed to not believe I'd be returning to the US!! But I showed him my return ticket and all was well. Whenever I get to the Canadian border, I'm ready to pass out (literally) and they can see it, which I know looks suspicious but becuase of what happened to my husband, the border folks scare me to death. I've seen first hand what they're capable of.

Oh my goodness Nyssa... I had NO idea! I guess you might have told this story before somewhere on these threads but I didn't see it! What I story! I am REALLY routing for you to get to Canada ASAP!! I will definitely be doing a happy dance for you when I hear you got your PPR... and you are on a roll now!

Hehehe, thank you so much StillSmilin. It's been rough, but so it is for everyone! He and I are most certainly anxious to have immigration out of our lives FOR GOOD!

Interesting thing is.. Canada post says that they delivered my mail on 6th August and CIC says they received it on 9th.. hmmmm
Not that it matters now.. but still not sure, why this discrepany

The 6th is a Friday and the 9th is a Monday... guess they just didn't open your mail right away or the post office didn't deliver before closing time on Friday.

I have a question about when you try to log into ecas. When you type in your last name is it case sensitive? I'm just wondering because it says how it looks on the identity document and they ask you to write in all capital letters. Also, my last name has a space in it and I'm not sure if they will use it or not. So far as far as I can tell, there is nothing on there for us yet.

I tried my last name in both all caps and lowercase. Once ecas let me log in it didn't matter what case I used. As for a space or hyphen I don't know since my last name is pretty short.

What I did notice when I finally was able to log in, CIC's main page with the processing times was updated sometime mid morning and then I could log in a couple hours after that.

I would try different variations. I put in my husband's last name with the first letter in caps and that's all. Interestingly, he has two middle names and they only used the first one. So I wouldn't be surprised if they forgot about half your last name. I wouldn't put it past them! :

...So happy the weekend is over, well almost. The journey continues, good luck my August friends, hopefully by the end of this week there will be more approvals. Hang in there, one day past is one day closer to re-uniting with our loved ones.
