Thread for Applications Transferred to Damascus

Dear Zohreh,

Our timeline is almost the same.My files transferred to Damascus on 30th March and they start processing on 30th March.I haven't receive any letter or news from Damascus since then.My lawyer expect my case to be finalized in late September or mid October. I am not saying that all of us must have the same timeline, but this is what he expects according to his other cases. Now I feel much better,at least I know I shouldn't expect any sooner.Try to relax hopefully we will hear the good news soon.

and Rezan jan I completely understand your situation as we have the same problem for the university... we really thought that my husband will be in Canada in the September (after 6 months).... and we both applied but now he can not start..

BUT Last night after 6 month being stressful and disappointment, I decided to TAKE IT EASY ;D ..... and just wait...

i hope you have received my reply via trackitt in your comments
there is no need for you to be worried of, you previously have paid the fees so they dont need to contact you. the only email that you will get from the embassy will be the one which asks for your passport for issuing your visa.
they asked for landing fee to be paid in the email to me. you have paid it. no need to correspondence with you.

as you know previously i mentioned that the embassy in damascus requested my civil state that shows my martial status in it .
well i got married in canada and i have a canadian marriage certificate that was sent with the application.
well my civil state in syria shows that i am single because i got married in canada and not in syria i am scared that they will hold that against me ,because i have sent my civil state with the application and why requesting it again???
in order to change my martial status in syria i have to go throughout a court decision that could take up to 4 to 5 months ,if one of you guys got married in canada and the embassy requested to register yourself and your wife or husband to the native country as married please reply . or give me an explanation thank you very much for your help and i have good news too i just got my certificat du selection my wife just e-mailed me thank youuuu eheheh.

In regard to you being married in canada that mean you are married in your country
if it will take too long to register in your country ask your wife to contact the syrian embassy ( are you from syria) in canada and register you and her as married i am sure there is a fee for that but this way you have it done here in canada thru your own embassy which legally it is valid in your country and may be this way it could be faster
do you have a lawyer or in the middle east they are called kateb adel which certify true copies of original try to do that , for example in lebanon you can after that have the marriage certificate certified from (WIZARET DAKLEIA AND WIZARET KHARGIEH) it could be the same in your country

i just have a question ..did anyone got married in canada and doing an outland spousal through damascus ? if yes .did the embassy ask from you to register your canadian marriage in syria or the native country ? thank you for your answers .

I don't know the answer to your question because I got married in my own country, but I believe it is better for you to ask this question from someone expert they can help you better.

I am going to miss unversity zohre what did you do with this problem for your husband ? what will be happened if someone has a delay of 4-5 weeks !? will his registration be canceled ?
this waiting is killing me,,, i cant wait anymore to kiss her again

There is no update in my file. I am not expecting to hear anything until end of September or mid October.I hope this is a wrong news and we all get our visas sooner than this.
Regarding university don't worry. I did my master's here, being absent in the classes is not a big deal, just explain they will accept.I saw that you said you are a medical student as long as I know for medical you have to do bachelor of biology and then take MCAT if you pass the exam you then will be accepted in the medical school.If you are accepted in any major for September semester just defer the offer and postpone your admission to January.It is really hard to start university without being familiar to this new environment.
I wish you best of luck, and I hope you can start your university on 13th of September and most importantly you can see your wife sooner.

You are completely right. I am admitted to UoT biological sciences, I transferred more than 10 credits so I only need to study one year. As UoT offers only fall entry I can not postpone it to january. you said being absent is not a big deal, could you please explain a bit more ? You mean being in attendance is not controlled or something ? what about laboratory courses ?

NO UPDATE....

what a great news !!!! I am also admitted to UoT for biology. my husband and I are both pharmacist and I want to continue my graduate studies in biological science.... as I know, if you are accepted for graduate studies you should speak with your supervisor first and if he accepts, normally the department will accept you for late registration...
we gave up for my husband because his department's policies was not flexible at all ( health management and sth like that).
are you a med student?? I thought you are a GP... if you are a GP you can go for medical exams... you may know the rules better than me....

OH my godddddddddddddd !!! what a coincidence !
Me and my wife are both medical students !! We are not finished yet ! we passed 5 years of medicine
We admitted to biological sciences undergrad, we transferred lots of credits so we should study one more year to get a canadian under grad degree, after that should take mcat exam which is a joke !! I mean much easier than qualifying exams which GPs should take
so we decided to start from beginning, because foreigner GPs will face limitation for specialties. We studied at tehran medical university and have strong academic background which i hope will help us to be accepted to surgery fields in future.
What about yours ? Have you finished pharmacy ? Are you taking biological course at graduate level or undergrad? any information you provide maybe useful for me. Thank you indeed

Dear Rezan;
You are right if you have taken Lab credits for sure you must be present and each day has it is own weight. I mean they will count the days you attend and it has some percentage from the overall grade.Lecture classes are not really controlled there are too many students in classes especially in UofT undergrad, but attending lab credits in all the universities are mandatory. I hope you will be here before 13th September.

I spoke with university registrar office, they said it is ok to be late for 2 weeks but not more than it. I should be there until 27th september. 3 weeks left.
I think it can be increased if I speak with a supervisor. because the credits I have taken at UoT are jokes !! too easy even to think about ! I will really regret if I loose this year

Dear Rezan
I hope you will get your visa sooner and you will start your university without losing a year.If by any chance your visa doesn't come don't lose your time register for your Fall term in this case you will earn more credits and you won't lose the whole year, but I really pray that you will hear the good news sooner.
There is no update in my file as of today. Damascus is really working very slow. It makes me nervous and anxious there must be something wrong !!!
