Based on the info provided, I doubt you would require an interview presuming you were dating for a few years before you got married. Just make sure to provide some reference letters and a timeline of photos and you should be fine imo.

Hi All,

We recently received notification from CIC of spousal approval, and were informed that our application has been forwarded to Sydney for further processing. Is that what is meant by "file transfer" in terms of people's profile here on the Canada Visa forums? Also, does anyone know if that is an actual physical file transfer, or are the application documents scanned and sent electronically? I'm not meaning to be impatient....just curious to know where our application might be right now :)

Thanks!

Haha You seem pretty curious about whats happening in CIC internally. I guess it would be too much cost for CIC to actually send all physical files to different visa offices throughout the world. They probably have a software that shares all the information with other visa offices. What your timeline like?

I certainly am curious :)

My timeline is listed under my profile. So far, my wife received an email in late January saying that she has been approved as a sponsor and our application has been forwarded to Sydney.

I received an email from CIC last week That states;
"This confirms that your application for permanent residence in Canada has been received by Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) on 2017/01/19."

So from here I am guessing we just wait. I haven't signed up for a CIC account yet, but I can log onto the website and continue to check the application status.

We have lots to arrange here before we leave though so I am focusing as much on that as I can.

It shouldn't be too long of a wait unlike other Visa Offices. Sydney office is not too busy and faster because of that.

How fast are we talking? I'm a November applicant and haven't heard anything since the file transfer. Anyone else feel like this process is painfully slow?

I've looked through the forum here and seen some of the timelines. I don't think they look too bad. CIC advertise a processing time of 12 months, so we'll expect that, but hope for something quicker.

Now the file transfer has been complete, I am not expecting to hear much more either. I'll just use that "Check your application" link I received in the email and see if it has any updates information.

Australia VO is so slowwwwwwww
I live in NZ.
Applied for my Permanent residency under Quebec Skilled worker since July 25,2016.
I received my file transfer since December 23, 2016 but until now ai havent heard anything from Australia Visa office... so frustrtaing. They are processing very slow.

Hi All,
I'm just wondering what the average timeframe people have had recently when sending their passport copy and pictures to Sydney? I'm sending mine off today awaiting COPR.

TIA

Is the MR from the date of file transfer or from the time of lodging of application?

What is MR? And would PPR involve sending the actual passport? I would have thought it would just be a photo copy since Aussies can stay for a few months without a visa.

Not a lot of people on this forum seem to come through the Sydney VO so it's not easy to guess accurately at timelines. Most people around the region have their applications processed in Ottawa (very quickly it seems) When we went to the visa office in Sydney, we were told it would take around 4 months, but we have had no communication since November. On the website, the processing time is 9 months, so I guess we don't have a right to be impatient yet. But it still stinks to have your life on hold.
