Thanks so much.

I had my passport request 2 weeks ago but didn't get a chance to do it til Wed night(2 nights ago) and received COPR today.
Im sure yours is coming soon... :)

So you mailed in your PPR documents and got your COPR 2 days later? How is that possible?

My guess is - they are just waiting for the copy of my passport
(thru email) and when they received it Thursday morning they printed it(COPR) and mail it the same day.
we live 5 minute walk from the consulate.

You can email it??? I thought you had to print and post it so you could include your return envelope.

yes, I emailed the scanned copy of my passport.....that's what it says on the email - pdf scan.
my visa office is Sydney..was not asked for return envelope.

Lucky you, just rechecked my ppr and it asks for photocopies of passport pages.
Wonder why yours was different?

Also i think we are all going through Sydney on this thread aren't we?

You guys live in Canada right?....you are using an address in Canada and application is being processed
here in Sydney. We both live here in Sydney...

Could that be the reason why some are being asked for hard copies of passport and not pdf scan?

Nope, I'm in Perth. Sponsor is in Canada though. I guess each and every application is different.

we are in Perth also.. and were asked to mail the copies of passport nothing about the option to scan it.

Yeah, that's random asking for scanned copies. Each to their own I guess!

Hi All,

First of all, apologies, might not the most appropriate thread, but since lot of Australians are on here, hopefully i might get some answers:

Me and my wife been living in Sydney for 8 years now and we are looking to move back to CA ( she is Canadian). We have been thinking about moving back to CA for 4 years now, but we are confused and torn between the two places. We have done pros/cons but that didn't really help us to get to a conclusion. We all know about the weather (which is actually an easy one for us, as we know there's really no comparison when it comes to Sydney weather, but we know that and our expectation is adjusted that way, so it's more about the unknowns that we worry about)

We are between 30-33 and have a 1.7 year old. We visit CA pretty much every other year ( she goes back every year).

I am very interested to hear from ppl who actually lived in Australia, made a life here and then gone back or migrated to CA or thinking about moving. I know everybody's personal circumstances are different so general comments would be appreciated.

Thanks

I've lived in Australia for 8 years also. I haven't moved back yet however for me the decision was easy because the reason for moving back to Canada is simply family and Tim hortons (okay not really tim hortons hehe).

Landed yesterday morning!
Went to Rainbow Bridge at Niagara Falls. Really easy process. Didn't take long at all.

I don't mind the cold here. I was born in Perth where it's sunny 350 days of the year haha, so it's nice having the cooler weather although the winters are long and you get sick of it after a couple of months. Especially getting your car clear of ice and snow.
Jobs and pay rate are a lot less than Australia. Although groceries and housing prices/rent are a lot less.
I think overall, raising kids in Canada over Australia. Less petty crimes and antisocial behaviour.
The biggest thing I think I miss is the Beach, Seafood and obviously family.
It's a big decision to make but really, both good countries, it's just who can be better about not being close to family.

Hey guys,

How long does it normally take for Mississauga to say they have received your application? I'm almost at 2 month mark and nothing yet...

website says they are working on applications received on 29 Sept 2014
