On a side note, how long did it take you all to get the COPR after the passport request or after ecas said decision made?

I was wondering if we went to the USA for a visit this weekend it would work for or against us.

Ah, thank you Graihn.
I am still wondering what happens in the case of needing to change our address to one out of Australia. I'm assuming that our application would continue to be processed in Sydney and it would mean coming back here for an interview if requested, which would be unfortunate. But would we be able to change our address to one in Canada and can my boyfriend (the applicant) go to Canada while we wait and have no troubles once we get COPR? Thanks.

Hello again!!

My boyfriend and I are currently waiting on his approval, although because my visa ran out in NZ and he is not able to live in Canada just yet, we took 1 1/2 month vacation and I have just arrived in Canada solo, to prepare for his arrival ( get a good job, find a house and vehicle etc) he has also sent his belongings over with me, as it is cheaper to send it all at once than in two trips, and being on vacation he does not need most of it.
It is all fine for me to clear his belongings through customs with a letter of consent.
My question is, if he wants to come and visitor for a few weeks- a few months, will he have any trouble getting into the country. He will not be working as we are not the kind of people to sink this much time and money into something and have it ruined due to working illegally. I am happily going to support him during his visit.
He will be coming into the country with virtually nothing, and a return ticket. Will they be aware he is applying for permanent resicdency when he arrives? If the visa is approved while he is in the country does that alter anything?

Received SA this morning! Interestingly, the email said that our application has been forwarded to CPC-O - Case Processing Centre Ottawa, rather than Sydney (we are both living together in New Zealand at the moment). Any ideas on why they chose Ottawa? It’s a bit disappointing as the processing times in Sydney are very quick right now.

Hey Everyone, I just applied P.R for my husband on 5th june,2014.
He is on bridging visa in australia.
Is it gonna make any difference?

whoaaaa...what happened to the spreadsheet? It's all jumbled up

I updated the spreadsheet with my recent application updates - stage one AOR 5 June, SA 6 June, Sydney AOR 23 June. I'm hoping the quick processing times from Sydney are still happening!

Does anyone have any tips on shipping things to Canada from Australia? Sea freight companies that are good, etc? We'll probably try to ship over a partial container, and I thought I might as well start looking into that stuff since otherwise I'll just be sitting here biting my nails waiting for news from the visa office... :)

Hi! I have just received the same letter / news. My husband and I live in brisbane and clearly stated we wanted Sydney to process his PR. I have no idea why they have chosen Ottawa....but my husband spent 2 years in Canada on a working holiday as well. Have you tried emailing the Ottawa office?

Wondering about the Consent to Disclosure Of Information

When it says where your application will FIRST be submitted:
This refers to Missisauga, because regardless what is processed where, the whole application process starts off at missisauga, correct?

Do we send the form to Mississauga? Or back to the sydney office? The sydney office is where the e-mail came from

What a relief to know we weren't the only ones! It must have something to do with the Working Holiday... I ended up ringing the office which was a nightmare to begin with living in NZ, and the person I spoke to put me on hold and then basically told me that 'sometimes files are sent to Ottawa, that is all' without even looking up my file. I've emailed the Ottawa office and got a standard reply saying they aim to respond in 20 days, so I'll let you know what they say.

Thanks sjenkins ;D
We received our AOR a day after you, and my SA / that weird letter about a week after you guys so we are seriously in the same boat!!! Fingers crossed processing times are fast for both of us. I'm going back to Canada September 10 and leaving hubby here :( hoping we are reunited before Christmas!!!! I'm still so dissipointed our file is not getting done in Sydney!

I used WridgWays (sp?) when I shipped a lot of stuff over in 2011 (so it's a bit out of date now) They were really good, waiting until they had a whole container to ship, so I waited longer for my stuff, but saved $$$ on paying who a whole (half-empty) sea-can. They kept me up-to-date on the name of the vessel / where it was going to berth / then getting the goods from the port to me. Good luck wity your move...

We just got an email from Sydney asking for Traffic history report from ViC roads. My boyfriend is English and never drove or got a Victorian license. I remember reading somewhere about getting something from vic roads to say a traffic report is not needed but can't remember how to go about it. Can anyone advise?
Taking this communication as good news, hoping once this is sent the ball is really rolling!

according to CIC website you can request a traffic report from here http://www.vicroads.vic.gov.au I am assuming they would send something saying there is nothing on record for him? you may have to ring VicRoads if your boyfriend doesn't have a license.

sounds like good news to me... looks like they are looking at your application :) fingers crossed!!
