COPR! Received the letter today. ;D

Spectacular news!!! Congratulations. :D

Sure enough, ours showed up Friday, although I didn't get to the mailbox until last night. We're so close, we just need to land now!!

Hi guys! I am a newbie here. On April 5 I received an email from Immigration Canada stating that I have been approved as a sponsor, i.e. cleared Stage 1, accordingly my husband's documents were forwarded to the Sydney Office. Now on ECAS when I enter the application it says the following:

"We received your application for permanent residence on March 11, 2013.

Medical results have been received."

Does this mean that the Sydney Office received my spouse's application on March 11 or is it when the Visa Office in Canada received it? I'm thinking it's the Canada Office since that's when they received my application and I don't think it's possible for the Sydney Office to receive my spouse's application the same day as the Canada Office sends it or is it?

I just want to know if his application has reached the Sydney Office in one piece. Can I email them and ask them? I'm just getting really paranoid. Please help :(

Don't get paranoid yet. It means that Mississauga rec'd it on that date. Once you were approved as a sponsor (April 5) they will forward it on to Sydney. Your spouse will get an email when it's rec'd in Sydney. They send the applications via diplomatic pouch, so there is very little chance it wouldn't get there in one piece. My advice is to sit back and relax. If you've sent a complete straight forward application you'll only have another 5 or 6 months to wait, Sydney seems to be very quick for the most part.....don't look at my timeline as an example of that however. :P

You are way too early in the process to email them.

We landed today, husband is now officially a permanent resident!

:D :D Congrats! Must be a great feeling!! :D :D

Yay! Approval came through today! Hopefully I can get home before the Leafs win the cup. :D

Thanks Canstralian. I guess I'm just really impatient. I just don't understand why it would take them so long just to tell us that they have received our application. It's now been a bit over 3 weeks since I received a letter from Immigration Canada telling me that they have forwarded my spouse's application to the Sydney Visa Office but still no notification from Sydney :(

Has your spouse not received an email yet? If they are able to access e-cas too, that means Sydney has rec'd it. I've just looked at the spreadsheet again and the shortest stage 2 AOR is 1 day and the longest is 40 days, you're still in the middle there. I'm sure your spouse will get an email in the next week or so. Hang on tight, immigration is not for the feint of heart, it's definitely the most difficult test of patience I have ever endured.

Shhhhh! Don't jinx it!

Thanks for the encouragement Canstralian! This waiting game is definitely the hardest thing I have done in my life.

So my husband just received an email confirming that Immigration Canada has received his application.

But I'm really confused about one thing..

The email I recieved said: "This confirms that your application to Sponsor a Member of the Family Class has been received by Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) on 2013/03/11 on behalf of the following member(s): my hubbi's name

The email my husband received says: "This confirms that your application for permanent residence in Canada has been received by Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) on 2013/03/11" (ECAS also has the same date)

How is it possible for the Sydney office to receive my husband's application the same day as the Immigration office in Canada received my application? I thought the spouse's application is forwarded to the relevant visa office once a decision is made, which for me, was April 5.

Could they have made a typo on the date ::)
