If you look at appendix B the comment at the top says this.

Please complete this form for yourself, your spouse and dependents (you need only include those being issued a visa as part of your application)

Return the original to us with your passport(s) copies. do NOT send passports for non-accompanying family members

So to me it says passport copies???? am i reading it wrong??

This is misleading, It the appendix A section just a generic part for everyone?

The first part of the email stated that they want

Your application is in the final stage of processing. In order to issue Permanent Residence visas, you are asked to complete and return Appendix B(attached) and the following instructions as indicated for yourself and each family member included on your application:

- Confirm your current passport details:AUSTRALIAN XXXXX. Once we have received confirmation of these details and the Appendix B form we can finalise your application.

to me this means they only want Appendix B and a confirmation of the passport details.

Im in Toronto now with a trip planned back to Oz but return before Xmas - This is bad news for me if they want the original

hey b- nation, i would email or call sydney, because I have heard that they only need photocpies and that's what others have done in the past. please let us know what you find out :-) good luck and CONGRATS!

B-nation, I'm not sure about that either, that's why I went down this morning.

They took my original passport and the appendix B and said it would be ready from 5- 10 working days. Met another guy who was there collecting the visa and he also brought in the original passport 1 week ago.

Maybe it's wise to see if they reply you? cos I also sent in a photocopy of my passport but they still took the original... hmm...

Ive sent them an urgent email. hopefully they will let me know soon.

I know they say dont book flights, but im already residing in Toronto and have to go back to Oz for a wedding...Obviously i need to have my passport with me to fly to and from Australia. If i send my passport it wont be back in time before i have to fly out..and if i sent it once im in Australia it might not be returned to me before i have to fly back to Canada...

I asked them what my options are

thx

they told me this morning it takes 5-10 working days for the visa to be issued... and the guy i met at the consulated who was there collecting his passport said it took him 1 week exactly. So if you come back and have about 2 weeks to spare it should be fine... but see what they say first.... good luck!

So have we confirmed they want the actual passport and not copies for the visa to be issued? I am confused ???

That really sucks to hear about needing the original passport. This is going to be a pain...

At least you guys got your PPR though. It took 2.5 months for them to get from late may to early june applicants. As a late June applicant, i'm hoping they move a bit quicker from here on in.

I got the impression that copies of your passport is totally fine.
I think they just took the actual passport because it was submitted in person, and that is just what was presented.

I emailed the VO after getting stage 2 AOR trying to send them photocopies of my passport but they replied that they will do that at the final stage of the application. They indicated in the email that you can also email the photocopy of the passport. This is for visa exempt countries. They also indicated that they wait until the end to ensure that they have the latest contents of the passport.

I still think photocopies are acceptable and I haven't quite figured out how to email my passport yet;)

Here is the copy of the email reply from Sydney.

Please wait until we contact you asking for copies of your passports. We ask for this at the very end to be sure we are receiving the most up to date passport details. They can be sent to our office by fax or electronically.

Sincerely,

i dont know why either... but why did they still ask me to bring my passport? anyhow hope you guys go faster than us... we've been waiting too long.

So i finally got an answer back, they replied saying that i only need to send copies of my passport not the original. and that i can send a scanned version of it rather than posting it...also that i can send in a scanned version of appendix B

they certainly didn't make it clear on the original request....oh well
