hmm -I never got a bounce back, just a reply the next day. I sent a case-specific inquiry from the CIC website.

weird. anyhow - hopefully we'll have the AOR in the next few weeks....and won't have to worry about re-doing the FBI clearance...

I emailed them at re-buffalo-im-enquiry@international.gc.ca - not off the website. I've gotten that bounce back the other times i emailed them as well. But it took a day then to answer me.

Question for ya-
So how does the fbi clearance thing work? I sent mine with my orginal packet and I think it's about to expire sometime this month. Does this mean I need to send another one or since it's in process, I met the cutoff deadline? Not sure if I should start the process for another set of prints so if they ask for a set, I already have one or it's at least in process.

Given that some Visa Offices have lost various security clearances (grrrrr BUFFALO!) it is a good idea to have a back up, particularly since it takes so long to get these back from the FBI, in your case. We've sent off for another but I think that as long as the clearance is still valid up to the date of initial submission (to Mississauga not Buff, I would assume) you should be ok. It's nice to have that extra bit of insurance, gives you a bit more piece of mind so that's what convinced us to apply for another. If it isn't used for immigration it might also be useful for employment once you land as some jobs may require these types of documents. Hope this helps!

Updates galore - hopefully they are all right and I got them all.

Wow, I haven't logged in for two weeks and it looks like things have really sped up in the Buffalo department. Looks like I'm next...

Wow! there has been a lot of action on this message board lately! Congratulations to everyone who started their in process portion! I haven't checked my status for a long time and when I saw everyone else getting theirs it inspired me to check on my status and mine was also in process, it began processing on August 31st, what a nice surprise! Anyhow, good luck to those still waiting to hear, it shouldn't be too long. Take Care everyone.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how best to proceed regarding additional documents? We didn't have our police clearances done when we submitted so will be asked for those at some point, also there's a travel supplement that isn't supposed to be required but I understand they generally ask for it anyway and we've got it completed. We've got all but one police clearance now and are expecting that one very soon. We also sent copies of our stat declarations rather than originals (didn't have the originals in hand yet) so can send the originals on.

Can we go ahead and send all of these docs to the visa office with our client ID number or should we just wait for the document request? Will the document request come with the AOR or does it come later? Just trying to move things along as quickly as possible....

In with the AOR letter there is about 20 stickers that route any documents you send directly to your file. I'd wait for those.
They will also ask for them at some point. I'm not sure if you should wait till they ask for it (I too have my FBI Cert to send in) or send it now.

We got our AOR letter and document request seperately, but they arrived the same day. I didn't know that they were done at the same time, but Brazil seems to do it that way...

I recently asked B'lo about this, and was told to hold on to additional documents and information until I received file number from the Buffalo office. I don't think you have to wait for the document request, although my guess is that if you send your additional information when you receive the file number and stickers in the AOR, you might *still* receive the document request as it might be in queue to be issued before your new information is integrated into your file..

I personally am going to send the additional information as soon as I get the AOR (which, fingers crossed, may be as soon as next week....) and am not going to wait for a document request, in case they don't request the FBI clearance until it is expired..

Thanks all those who've posted info about the additional docs.

Definitely sounds like it will be worth waiting for the AOR before sending (and hopefully by then we'll have the final police clearance we're waiting for).

Can someone just confirm that additional documents definitely get sent directly to the visa office? For some reason I remember reading somewhere that they might have to go to CIC. It's just that if I know they're definitely going to Pretoria I'll go ahead and send all the documents to family in SA (which is the mailing address we've given for the application and the police check) so that it's all there and ready to send in as soon as the AOR comes.

MY letter with the stickers attached says:

Attached to this noitce you will find bar code labels indicating your file number. Please use these labels when communicating with this office.

You must save at least one bar code label for the end of the application office to attach to the outside of the passport envelope later.

I can't see why you'd communicate with Mississauga anymore other than payment of the Right of Landing if you haven't.

I was thinking perhaps if they had the FBI Cert there before it expired and it then expired while they were processing, I might not have to redo it then. It expires in 1 month exactly. So I am way leaning toward just sending it.

yup - ours expires in mid-October, and I am so hopeful that with the recent speed in B'lo that I will be able to get it to them on time. I'm pretty sure that as long as they receive it before it expires, it's a-ok. after all, if we had sent it with the application originally, it would likely already be expired (or be expiring sooner) and would be alright...

Thanks.... yeah, I couldn't understand why it would be but, you know... don't want to mess anything up!! At least gathering the documents gives me something to do so I don't feel like I'm just sitting and waiting. Will probably try to add in some more relationship evidence while I'm sending stuff in... just for fun :)
