Hi nylalisa,

The mention of Ottawa caught my interest. If it isnt too much of a trouble could you please give me more information on how learning french would be helpful as I should be going to Ottawa inshallah. I have already learnt french for 4 yrs back in 2002, and doing a refresher course at Alliance Francaise right now. Also, can I join an advanced course on the lines you have mentioned above once I reach Canada. Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks
Shamsia :)

Ottawa is a very bilingual town. Most jobs, although not all require a basic level of French or higher, in addition to English. What you will do is what FPrince suggested. You will attend the local YMCA that provides the language assessment for French or English. Here is Ottawa, you can also go to La Cite Collegiale. They will assess what French skills and assign you to a level. I am not sure if there anything you can register online for, but considering you are in a course right now, you will be set by when you arrive to start a LINC class. Don't hesitate to contact me if you have any other questions about this or Ottawa specifically. My husband is enjoying the town here but sees the need to learn French, it would open more doors that's for sure.

My case is the same as yours. I had couriered ND my passports, however, I got another letter from ND asking for my valid passport.
I emailed them the Courier Tracking History and the Passport Request Letter. Later I sent both the things via Speed post. No response yet.

Hi Guys, I am wondering what is the best way of converting my INR savings into CAD and carrying it with me?
I am exploring the following options:
1) Carrying CAD in cash.
2) Demand Draft
3) Travel card.
4) Travellers' Cheque.
5) Wire transfer (I think only AXIS bank provides this feature)

What is the best and secure way of currency conversion?

Individual experience - Kindly do wire transfer from U A E Exchange and credit in your spouse account directly (the amount will be credited within 24 hrs), they charge upto 2000 CAD only INR 750 and if you carry CAD in cash than you have to pay 2$ excess to the current exchange amount and Travelers cheques also safe and convenient.

Rest upto you sir

OH GOD NO UPDATE EVEN TODAY!!!!!

You can do anything, but i suggest carry Cash in hand.
You never know about flight delays, i was once delayed by 36 hours @ Pearson..so i know how hard it is without a cellphone & money.

You need to carry USD/CAD just be to safe whenever you travel.
