Sam, nddec - Big congrats :-)
The wait is finally over.

@nddec Buddy
Regardless of what you hear and what you read, let me be very frank and tell you what can happen 90% of the time here.
The million $ question you will be asked in each and every interview is - Do you have Canadian Experience?
I am a hiring Manager and it is in most companies wishlist that you either have education in canada or canadian exp to get a job easily in the business field here in Toronto.
Yes, there are exceptions like he has an MBA and worked for IBM India for 5 years -
Indian experience in the business field will not be easily considered here...this is just an FYI for you to be prepared.

Have your options open and look at some HR cources in Humber or George Brown as well, it will really open up your world when it comes to your career.
My wife has a Masters degree and 7+ years of experience in India but she will be facing the same problems once recruiters start calling her.

If you are young, best thing to do is to go to College and get a Post graduate certificate in the field you would like to work.
and remember you do not pay international fee anymore (10-15k) you pay Canadian resident fee ( which could be around 3-5k)

All the best.

@Vish,

What kinda sucks in my case is that she needs to apply for a New PP @ Indian Consulate here..
For that i need that PR Card...
Then comes all the complexity of New Indian PP with new surname, new pr card with new name ....all that :-)
I hope she gets the PR card by end of this month....so we can start the process.

Just sharing info about free french/english LINC program for new landed immigrants.
My wife is starting her french classes tomorrow, she just wants to learn french,,no idea why.
As a new immigrant you can learn english/French free of cost if you think you need to polish your english skills.. this is a a free of charge program in partnership with CIC.

How to do it - Go to your local YMCA language assessment center and they will evaluate your language skills and recommend you to which stream you might need.

So now shes gonna start bitching at me in French and i will have no clue LOL

@ Sam & nddec,

Congrats to both of you.... finally. See we told you ;) Patience is key....

@ FPrince,

The LINC classes are great. My husband started the English one just for conversational reasons to get some of the more informal lingo down. LOL! Now he wants to start the French classes because in Ottawa, the key to most jobs regardless of experience is one's ability to speak French. She will enjoy them, they are also a great way to meet new people.

I would like to thank Fprince as well for the link.. Its very helpful.
You are Welcum Buddy !

If your are settling down in GTA that's gr8, so my advice kindly join the Bridging Business Careers Program at Toronto. This program helps to find employment in your field i.e Business Administration.

If you want to opt career in HR filed and wants to be certified as HR professional in Canada (HRPA). Check this link http://www.hrpa.ca trust this will help you and clear your doubts.

Before applying for the job kindly prepare your resume as per Canadian Standard format and register your curriculum in the Job Bank and the link is http://www.jobbank.gc.ca/intro-eng.aspx

Best Wishe
