US $10,000 - Is just an amount which you are entitled to bring ..if you exceed this figure in cash you need to just declare it. It is your money and they can not say NO...you just have to declare how much cash is entering the country..being paper currency, it does affect the available cash flow within the country.

Thanks Gagan ! Gifts etc is different, i am concerned about what we carry for ourselves. Abt gold , even if its just a couple of rings/earings.. do you still need it(receipt) ?

This is again a case specific question, when my friend's spouses immigrated last year they did carry gold..about 50 soverigns each..but they only declared in the form nylalisa was talking about..there was not attestation for the value etc..and i don plan to do this as well..
depends on who the officer is, some might be picky and some might not be picky.
In my case it will only be clothes, utensils, masala hahaha, and gold..and i am gonna ask her to declare the value when she lands..

Well, that is good..june will be awesum and sun will always be out..she will love it
as for me, my initial guess was first week of april..now its not gonna happen at least till may end ( that too if i am lucky )
so i am thinking maybe be in June..issue is after July the flight tickets can go from 85k-1,50,000 INR..
I dun wanna do that man..even though i have a free ticket with Jet, they blackout august as its a big profit for them..

Man I hope so too, and I'm actually thinking of going to India to bring my wife over, I hope tickets aren't that much, my estimated dates as of now... I hope I'm right... June 16 depart, come back on 29th of June,,, be here for the JULY 1st CANADA DAY FIREWORKS!!!!!!!!! PRICES would really kill and make a huge dent on my pocket, specially with the GAS price where it is right now... and my car only takes 91 Octane, sucks!

Yeah last step. My wife just got called for an interview - May 2nd.
Hopefully, she will be here by the end of May.

I find it ironic that the average for quick processes is 69 days and
May 2nd is day 69 of the file in Delhi.
