no worries, you are the applicant sponsoring your wife, so that being said, you are the sponsor, and your wife is the applicant. Your wife has to sign the release document giving your authority.

What the best thing is to do, fill out the forms send it to your wife, get her to sign, and she will send it back to you, and then you will submit the forms to CPC-Mississauga, assuming you are in Toronto. She is not able to send the forms directly to ND anymore, a long time ago you were able to but not any more. Ideal would be if you were already back home, both of you sit together fill out the forms, so nothing is missing such as signature, as that is the last thing you want missing, and then come back and send it yourself to Mississauga.

I agree with missingyou about the photos. About the updates, as she and sanyrog say, ECAS updated our status till the sponsorship approval stage and once the file reached ND (New Delhi), the updates slowed down/stopped. At this stage, updates can be obtained through Case specific enquiries addresssed to ND. Once the applicant's (which would be the person in India) file is opened, the sponsor can no longer enquire. But the applicant can. So, ask the applicant to send the case specific enquiries and ND would respond. You can use the sponsor's client ID number if you have not obtained a file number. So, no need to use release forms (unless you really want to do all the enquiries as a sponsor).

In sanyrog's case (I am her husband), we used a lawyer and so once her file was opened, neither of us could get updates from Delhi, only the lawyer could. So, whenever the lawyer sent an enquiry, we got updates. Hope that cleared things up.

Here is the info for the timelines for CIC Mississauga for approval of spouse application
From 32 days it went to 44 days now
Now it takes 44 days for CIC to approve the sponsor application and is currently working on applications received on November 25, 2010
All staff has gone missing !

Just checked the holiday list at http://vfs-canada.co.in/holidaylist.html. Seems like its off for them tomo in lieu of New yr ( so.......they l start working oly from tuesday. And its off for them on Jan 26th also.
