Government of Canada invests in Toronto, in program developed with the Province of Ontario and the City of Toronto

Toronto, December 3, 2010 — The Government of Canada is investing more than $2M for improved access to services to help newcomers successfully integrate, Citizenship, Immigration, and Multiculturalism Minister Jason Kenney announced today.

Through the federally funded Local Immigration Partnership, developed in collaboration with the Province of Ontario and the City of Toronto, representatives from several sectors including employers, educational institutions and settlement and social service agencies will work together to research the diverse needs of newcomers in order to create a strategy to improve integration.

Through the City of Toronto Newcomer Initiative, settlement workers will be placed in Public Health offices, City child care facilities, shelters and community recreation centres to use city services to advance the social and economic wellbeing of newcomers to Toronto.

“The Local Immigration Partnership and Newcomer initiative programs will enhance the City of Toronto’s ability to help newcomers integrate,” said Minister Kenney. “By better understanding newcomers’ needs, we can improve access to important services, like language training, that are key to successful integration. We are very much looking forward to working with the new Mayor of Toronto toward that end.”

"I am very pleased to be here with my Federal and Provincial colleagues,” said city of Toronto Mayor Rob Ford. “Providing top notch customer service to our newcomer residents is something that is imperative.”

“Attracting and retaining newcomers is part of our Open Ontario plan for economic growth for our province,” said Dr. Eric Hoskins, Ontario’s Minister of Citizenship and Immigration. “This newest Local Immigration Partnership will ensure that our newcomers get the services they need to help them settle and find a good job right here in Toronto.”

Since 2005, the Government of Canada has more than tripled its annual spending on settlement services for newcomers in Ontario. For 2010–11, the Government of Canada is allocating $428 million in Ontario for settlement services for newcomers, such as language training, job search workshops and placing settlement workers in schools

Hey do not worry I have read on this forum that sometimes it can take 2 to even 3 weeks for them to reply back , just hang in there and like I said keep that 6 month date in mind and dont worry about the process before that .

Hello guys ..I have another concern regarding that Personal History form..

How did u filled up that form? like did u include ur personal history since the age of 18 or included last 10 years of history..

I am 22 so how should I have filled that form? I didnt provided info from my last 10 years instead I filled this form giving information since my age 18 was that alright?

Please give your valuable suggestion...

Is it 6 months from the date we submitted the application, or 6 months from when it was transfered to New Delhi?

According to this it is 6 months from the time mississauga receives your application

Sponsored Spouses, Partners, and Children

Processing times for these applications are calculated from the date on which the application is accepted by Case Processing Centre - Mississauga.

Personal history for the principal applicant is only needed from the 18th birthday onwards , a word of advice do not leave any gaps with that time meaning put it down from day to day instead of month to month

It means, from the date the sponsorship is approved, and not the other way round..

Guys a small question:

Do spouses under Family class sponsorship need to possess any money when they travel to Canada? Does Immigration officer ask for it? If yes, how much should they carry?

If they meant approved they would have said from the date application is approved and not accepted , at least that is what I think , I know it look like they mean different on here

If you want to be too sure then just add another month to the date you applied , coz it usually just takes about a month to get approved by missi

Yes ur right. So it takes max of 7months from the day u file the appln.

@sanyrog:the speed at which they are wrking on our files doesnt seems that they are going to complete process in 6 months

@sanyrog @applied03

Guys lets be positive let us hope that this time they straight away issue the visa and return the passport in a week than they use to do earlier as in keep the passport with them. I really pray to god to give us in process status this week and i am pretty sure god does know how hard it is for us to be living a single life even when we have got married. Please be positive and lets keep our thread positive and expect something good.

Have a belief in good and good things will happen for sure......

OM NAMAH SHIVAYAH.....
