Hi,

Can any one tell me, whether the lawyer ( representative) or the sponsor (my wife) will be notified on the status of our application..

normaly your lawyer would as you authorized him as ur representative..

My case is similar to yours...Even my wife lived in Canada for 5 years...first on study permit and then on work permit. So i don't know how long its going to take her to get her passport back. Did you submit your Canadian police clearance as well. I don't know why consulate takes such a long time for some one who already lived in Canada. In fact their process should be fast for such applicants as they can pull up all the records in their system with person's previous client id or even their sin number.

Totally agree with u! I used to think the same way that my husband lived here for 8 years in Canada his case should be no problem, but turns out its the other way round. they dig deeper with this history. It's so sad. We submitted passport in march and still it's "application received". I dont know when it will change to in process

Hi there u say that they finished processing Feb files how can we find that out as I am nov2011 applicant submitted by passport on Feb 26 and am still waiting fir my passport how can u say that they have finishes Feb applicants does is says working on files received on this date it only shows in assessment of the sponsor doesn't shows on the person being sponsored the whole system is *censored word* someone getting passport back in 3 weeks someone in 3 months and in my case they have my passport for 4 months really frustrating I tried everything inc contacting no as well but everyone is getting diff answers from new Delhi I don't know what to do any help

Hi mumpy, we are in the same situation. been 4 months n still application received. I tried contacting my local MP and got no help and was denied but everyone else in this forum suggests to contact them and it works! have u tried that?

Yeah I agree, they seem to be almost through (at least first cut review - almost most of jan applicant are now in process or approved or interview) I know some folks in jan and or earlier have not got a PPR or in process or in process but no ppr.. such cases can be usually explained by over 6 months of travel history.. specially the folks who have resided in Canada before applying... for them the BC checks takes about 2-3 months and they might even ask for finger prints as well.. So I guess over all its fair to say that new delhi should really be doing the first cut of feb applicants and should be similar to what we see with Jan applicants... Its always first come first serve unless you missing a document,made a mistake..

I dont stress too much on ECAS status as it can be delayed,faulty and might not even reflect the accurate status.. Patience is the key... there are folks who have waited for 12 months in New Delhi to get it done and then there are folks who walked out of the process in mere 120 days..

I request members from this forum to provide updates to your cases as you get them -> it really does help to hear something somewhere in new delhi is moving....

My husband lived in Canada for 8 years n travelled out to india only once on october 2011, so youre saying people who lived in canada.. their case can take 2-3 months longer? we sent the passport n police clearance for both canada and india on march 6. it has been almost 4 months n status still is "application received". it really concerns me

Well, forget your stupid MP, let's hope your parents' MP is good for something If not, you could also approach your provincial MP (MPP).

Regarding GCMS notes, I applied for them when my husband (then fiance) was denied a visit visa last year and I found it useful to see the officer's reasoning. The official refusal letter wasn't specific but the GCMS notes showed more of the rationale.

The notes for the PR application could be a bit harder to interpret as it contains some codes, but the summary will be understandable. It will look something like this:

Step by step:

Print off IMM 5563 (05-2012) E - Access to Information and Personal Information Request:

Section A:
1. Access to Information Act
2. English/French (your choice)
3. Email (fastest way)
4. No (because the applicant does not live in Canada you cannot request on your own, your spouse will have to officially request for you)

Section B:
This section is for the applicant to fill out.
Family Name (Last Name)
Given Name(s) (First Name/Middle Name)
DOB
Electronic Files - Status of an Applicaation - File Number (you would get this from the AOR or sponsor approval, ours started with an 'F') -
Location (in your case its New Delhi, India)
DO NOT fill out the Immigration File in Canada section or the next section down that says Physical File unless you really want those docs as well. If you do, the file will be pulled and could delay your processing until it's returned.

Section C:
This section your spouse that lives in Canada will fill out:
Tick the box "this request is submitted by a Canadian Citizian or PR"
Mr. Mrs. Ms
Family Name (Last Name)
Given Name(s) (First Name/Middle Name)
Full Address
Phone Number
Email
Requester's Signature: your spouse to sign and date

NOW:

Print off IMM 5475(12-2004) E - Authority to Release Personal Information To A Designated Individual: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/kits/forms/IMM5475E.pdf

Choose One:
Tick off the first box "i authorize"
Questions 1-4 are for you, the principal applicant to fill out
1. Family Name and Given Name
2. DOB
3. Name of Office: Canadian High Commission -- Location of Office: New Delhi, India
4. File Number and Client ID (UCI)

Questions 5-6 are for your spouse, the Canadian citizian or PR to fill out
5. Family Name and Given Name
6. Address, Phone and Email (make sure to use the same email that you provided when you first submitted the application)

7. Principal Applicant to sign and date/Sponsor to sign and date

I filled the forms out and then scanned them to my husband to sign, then scanned them again and emailed them, the email address is at the bottom of form IMM-5563

Lastly, pay the $5 online http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/fees/index.asp. Print the receipt and fill it out with your sponsors information, and email all 4 pages to ATIP-AIPRP @ cic.gc.ca.
Alternatively write a $5 personal cheque to the Receiver General of Canada and mail the pages to Access to Information and Privacy Division, Citizenship and Immigration Canada, Ottawa, Ontario, K1A 1L1

Everything looks fairly easy n simple to do except getting scanning, getting my husband to sign, then scanning again, then emailing lol. This itself can take 2-3 days going back n forth and then we wait another 30 days for these notes. I wish it was simpler. But it's ok I am going to apply either way, cz it's important. Hi,
It is not a passport request. They have specifically mentioned the country of which they needed the PCC for. We had already submitted it.
At the time of submitting the PCC was only a month old.

Is there an expiry date for PCC ? For instance, I read somewhere that it was valid only for 6 months. I submitted my application in September 2011 and New Delhi just started processing it in June. If there is , why havent they asked for Indian PCC?

Is there a possibility they have misplaced it ?

Well, this is a puzzle. Maybe they misplaced it, maybe they meant to ask for the Indian one but mistakenly asked for the other, maybe they just want a more up to date one since the original is close to 12 months old at this point. Your process has really taken a long time...any idea why? I guess you could start re-obtaining that PCC and in the meantime, send them an email or CSE to ask why they want another since you sent it before, and also if you should get an Indian one as well.

In regard to the medicals, I think don't re-do them until or unless Delhi requests it. Or add that question into the same email/CSE as above.

Only few questions such as: how come u didn't have big ceremony for ur wedding? What's ur husband name. Showed the phone bills. Expecting the visa within 3 weeks

CIC has sent back many FSW applications to the applicants... hopefully this should reduce the processing times of Family sponsorship..

No, don't count on that. Stage 1 review of FSWP applications are done in Sydney, NS while stage 1 for family sponsorships are done in Mississauga or Ottawa. And in any event, those FSWP applications haven't been returned yet; they're planning to do it but have run up against legal challenges.

Unfortunately likely yes. The instructions state that PCCs can't be more than 3 months old at the time the application is received. Did you have to obtain several?
