I had heard of personal interview? Does CHC ND have telephone interview also? Is your wife the applicant?

Can you give some more details - what's the situation? Any interview experience is good to share/hear if you're willing. We're getting ready for ours on Feb 22, but so much waiting - I want it over with!

Regd Telephone Interview,

Guys based on what I heard from my wife (applicant) at the wee hours, I am posting this, will update as and when required:
I think they called her sometime between 11:00 am and 4:00 pm. They first called her on her cell and since it was not reachable they called her parent's home#. Once her mother gave her new cell # , they called her in her new cell#
So they called her and asked her the following:
Full name,
Date of birth
Marriage date
How and when did our meet happen
Who were there during our first meet
How many people attended the marriage
How I (sponsor) got the PR and what I am doing now
Where she is staying and with whom
Towards the end they asked her to send the marriage pics along with the outing pics ( I missed while sending it during submission to Mississauga office) and when she said that she had submitted last monday they said they will get back to her in few days.

She was also mentioning that they had questions prepared after going through our file in details. They were looking for specific names and details.

I am not sure if this is the final step or the initial stage but I am glad atleast they have started looking into our case :)

Hi Guys,

I have an urgent question. My wife got her passport with the PR last Wednesday. She is planning to come to Edmonton for 2-3 weeks. So basically she will do her landing say next week and leave after two-three.

I was wondering whether you need to be physically present in Canada till you get the PR card. I am guessing it is not required. Can anyone suggest ?

Also, is it ok if she travels back without the PR card. She will be going for a month or two back to India. By that time I will post her PR card to India so that she can come back.

I think there shouldnt be any problems with the above two approaches. What do you guys suggest ?

Thanks,
RF

I remember my friend came to Canada for 2 weeks to become PR and went back to India without PR card.

PR card is needed when she has to come back to Canada. You can always courier that to India.

this is exciting people moving to edmonton :) my home town...lol.

there is no issue her going back however, she can't come back into canada without her PR. you can mail her the PR card but if the mail doesn't make it there than thats an issue.

I think the proper steps are you inform CIC and the visa office abroad and they will issue whats called a travel document. Its better to inform them than to take this chance. I would phone CIC and ask what the best approach is, they can make arrangements if you need to leave the country for whatever reason without your PR card

edit: Also make sure before she leaves you get her healthcare card (get it on spot at the registry) and SIN from Canada place (can get it on the spot if no issues with name) before she flies back

I sent mine to Mississauga on Dec 7 2011 and got my sponsorship approved on Jan 31 2012..So I believe Jan is the date my file should have been sent to new delhi!

CIC performed quarterly updates on website. ND still remains 6 months. :)
