you are welcome

1-888-242‑2100

This is the number where sponsor is supposed to call from inside the Canada. They just ask you the basic info for the security purpose.
All one needs to give is client ID( if already have one), type of sponsorship, DOB, Country of Birth, Date application received, Principle applicant's name, type of application ( outland/inland), and spouse's country of living.
[ KUKU, Thanks for the info]

Hello Guys,
I called the CIC call center today to get an error fixed in the zip code of my address in ecas. I spoke to them regarding the change and since I was on the line I inquired about the timeline and how our sponsorship files are sent to their respective VO's. I was very surprised when they told me that each week designated dignitaries for each VO (from the immigration office) collect the respective VO files and travel to that country and submit the files by hand. They said these files are highly confidential and they cannot take of risk of losing them. The call center agent told me that he came to know about this procedure only recently and even he was surprised. He said he was under the impression that these files were sent via some secure mail. And regarding the timeline, he said it usually ranges from 10 to 15 days.
Well, it was a surprise to me and thought I would share it with you guys.
Good luck to all.
Ajay

You what I find strange at times is that there were applicants who have applied after some of the people awaiting visas and they got their process finished already..I wonder what criteria they use to process all applications..Of course, the exception would be if they're waiting for a background check for people who have travelled a lot or people who need ARC's etc...but people whose cases are clear as drinking water..that's what puzzles me..I mean I know there is the whole BFD (bring forward date) but if they have had the passport for more than 3 months..that's strange..cos BFD's usually, at the most, are from 30 to 90 days, depending on what they are waiting for...oh well

I heard from somewhere that they ( and for that matter any third party) can't keep anyone's passport for more than 2-3 weeks.. I don't know if this rule is true.. But looking at CHC work system, I can't say its true.

Do they send PP to third party for BC?

No. I meant to say that any one else other than a PP holder ,or any authorized personal or agency can't hold it for more than certain amount of time.

I don't think passports are sent out for BC cos it can be done by just giving the applicant's name, dob, etc

And I agree with you Kuku, pp shouldn't be kept for a long ime like that..I mean what if someone has to travel due to an emergency right??

ND Office is excluded from all rules!! :) :)

But I still love ND! =) lol

I don't hate either.. ;) ;)
