You can renew it after Aug 2011. All you need to do is send them the forms and you will retain your PR card as it would be valid for one more year.
Think the Fee is $50 and 2 PR card pics and a simple form is enough.

Once they validate and issue you a new PR card for 5 years, they will send it to your nearest CIC office.
You will go in person...surrender your old PR card and come home with a new 5 year card.

Enjoy your time India and come back..i have to do the same for my wife for a name change, we will discuss this more when you come back.

Good news for people who don drive and can't buy beer ( or have to carry your PP each time ) 8)

http://www.mto.gov.on.ca/english/dandv/driver/photo-card.shtml

Ontario is introducing a new photo card that will provide government-issued identification to more than 1.5 million Ontarians who do not drive. The Ontario photo card will make it easier for non-drivers to perform everyday transactions such as cashing a cheque or returning merchandise to a store. The voluntary card will be available this summer to individuals 16 years of age and over who do not hold a driver’s licence.

You think this photo card can be used as the residency requirement to get OHIP card?

To apply for OHIP your hubby needs to take his PP and COPR to the office which is easy.

The issue is with the adress proof, which new immigrants wont have for at least 1 month unless you get a DL the next day.
You need to take a bank statement with address or the DL which will have the address ( the paper one until they send u the card which can take 4 weeks )

Regardless since you are in ON, the health care will only begin on day 91 after landing.

In my case i will have to wait for one month until my wife gets a bank statement from TD which will show her address and plan to go to the OHIP office in July.

My friend recently took a printout online from the bank website with address and they declined and they said "we need the monthly statement bank or CC "and sent him back.
Depends on where you go...

Yes i believe ECAS is updated with the interview date..i do nylalisa's ecas had this update
Big Ben, Brin, Grimi - Whats your take.
I think they do it for all applicants who are being interviewed and they do send out a detatiled letter asking you what to bring.

YES, they do update the ecas with the interview date and u can see it once u click on the application recieved link.

Mine was updated on 21/05/11, almost 3 weeks prior to the interview.

Ben

did the interview information got updated when the status changed from application received to in process or it was already in in process without interview information and within few days it Was updated with interview information?

I don't even get bank statements printed.. its all online now.. the add.proof is the only 'issue' right now. And yes, I am aware coverage starts after day 91, but just wanted to get all the card applns out of the way.

Test i cant quote and reply..website error?

Yes so in your case he has to print it online when the statement is ready.
But it needs to have the address.....................

Ok right.. so what was the issue with your friend then? was the add. not on the statement?

Also what kind of ID needs to be shown at the bank (so in your case TD) to open an account? Can't find info online.

Check List 2....and we only qualify for bank, utility bills as a new landed immigrant.
These guys are a bit strict with the ON address proof.
