Hi ajy457!

I do not think travel history has too much of an impact as long as you have always maintained a legal status in the countries you have lived in. Some people overstay their visit/student/work visas and hence face a problem. As long as the travel history was legit I do not think it will delay the case for long. Btw, I have a travel history to Saudi Arabia from 1985 t0 2010, and I do not think it had too much of an impact on my case.
That's good to know shamsia. I was under the impression that travel history would means more background checks meaning more time. Thanks for the info.

AJAY - dude get the police certificate from the passport office. the one that u get from ur local police station is sometimes not enuf fr these guys . the one from passport office is a sure shot. but note that not all passport offices offer this service
Balibali,
When we applied for my wife's PR, we spoke to our friends who went through this process and they all told us that they went with PCC from the main police station in Hyd (as far as I know, all the areas in hyd are divided into 2 or 3 police station areas for getting PCC's). They said passport offices take longer time where as if you get it from police station, you can get it in a week. So, we went with that but had to go to Chennai to get her PCC for the 4 yr period she was there. We finally ended up getting both the PCC's in 1.5 weeks but had to do a lot of travelling.

PCC is country specific...No matter where all you lived in in India, you only need one PCC...

Now there are 2 ways to get PCC...one is from your local police station which would be your location specific. And second is from regional passport office, which would be a country specific. you can submit either of them. No need to get PCC from different cities you have lived.

In our case, we have submitted both. one from wife's current address and one from passport office. Actually we did not even know that we could get PCC from passport office. But my wife went to a regional passport office to add my name in the passport and someone advised to apply for PCC at the same time as he seemed to be aware of the immigration process. So she did just for the sac of applying as she was already there and only had to fill out one form. Surprisingly she got PCC along with the passport within 15 days.

a friend of mine whose wife have lived in 5-6 different cities after she was 18. But they submitted a PCC from her current address where she was living. And they are living happily together at present. ;) ;)
I didn't know that PCC from you current address is enough. When we went to the police station to get the PCC they specifically told us that we need to goto Chennai and get another PCC covering the 4 yrs she was there. They specifically mentioned in the PCC, ex: XXXX was in our jurisdiction from Aug 1, 2002 till July 31, 2004 and Sep 1, 2008 till May 31, 2010 only. That got us concerned and we went to Chennai to get her PCC from there.

I was thinking more travel history means more time for background checks. I don't know for sure if this is the case but this is what I got from my friends who have applied before and experienced this.

Hey there,

I got my PCC from the Passport Office because apparently it had more credibility. We did try from the Police Station, but the first time we went, they said you should go to Banjara Hills P.S first blah blah and we thought these people would make us run from pillar to post. My PCC from the regional passport office came in under 45 days. :)
