Hi everyone.

Are there any issues if the PAs birth certificate was issued late?

Absolutely yes! The Accra office loves PAs presenting them a late birth certificate so they can call for interview. Not only the interview, they will ask you to present them historical identification such as school certificate, previous passport and more to confirm your identity. I would like to advice you to be careful with what you going to provide them with the late birth certificate cos if you read this thread back few years ago you would see a lot of people got problem with situation like that.

Wow. Well my birth certificate was reissued 11 years ago. Would that be considered late? My first birth certificate had a contraction on one of my names. So my mum got it reissued so the full name is spelled out.

11 years ago is a long time so you won't have any issue and that would not be considered a late birth certificate. A late birth certificate would be something like a new one issue right before you submit your application.

Phew! That's a relief. This process can make someone so paranoid. I keep thinking and thinking...

You'll be fine Forte. My husband had an old birth certificate but when he had to get a new passport in 2014 they told him he needed a new birth certificate with bio data on it, so he got one but kept the old one too. So in our app he submitted the old one and his new one from 2014.

Hi Everyone:
question

We know most of the 2016's are getting the PPR now
2017 applicants has anyone reached PPR yet??
and or April 2017 applicants anyone completed medicals and or gotten PPR yet???

the wait is seriously getting annoying with 2017 stream

Thank you everyone for sharing here. I have been following along for a while and it has been so great to get some insight into what might be going on at AVO.

I am a Canadian sponsoring my husband from Ghana. We submitted our application on January 31st 2017 and received sponsorship approval February 27th 2017. Application was received in Accra (They started processing according to the online Check Your Application Status...) on March 30th 2017. At the end of August I gave birth to our child in Canada with my husband still in Ghana. We haven't heard anything from CIC since the email saying I was approved as a sponsor on February 27th.

Bless you. Ours filed Feb 1 so that's very close. Assuming you did medicals up front? (Ours were requested mid-July)

Hi everyone,
Thank you for sharing your experience. I have been read this thread for more than 3months. It helps me to keep hope. Thank all of you. I'm living in Canada and sponsoring my husband. Our application was received on 24th January 2017. We got SA on 11th February. My husband got a letter to submit criminal record and annexe A on the same day. He sent everything since middle of March and we got also CSQ from Quebec by end of March. We are waiting for medical request since then. On the website we just know that they received the application on 24th January. But nothing about when they begin to process. It seems like nobody touches the application in Accra. My husband is living at Japon currently, I thought they will send the application at Manilla but they sent it at Accra because we are from Benin. I'am wondering if all these silence is due to that. People who submit on February as us have already got medical request at least. I don't really know what is happening and what I can do to get more information. If someone have a clue, please tell me. I am going crazy with all of this.

Pls dnt panic if you've already sent your application. When I applied I did not no about this forum so I submitted only sworn affidavit of birth certificate from Nigeria population census the cost is about 4k and I did not submit any school certificate with my application not even waec, university certificate or working documents still AVO did not ask me about anything like identity stuff or school certificate. Just chill and pray that's it. Most important thing let them believe your marriage others na gara. Too, we should be careful the way we send cic emails about things we forgot to include. I made too many mistakes on my application but I never wrote cic mail to remind them of anything still I got the ppr. When God's grace is upon your life no man can stop you not even AVO abi na Cic.

@tender u are right about that but what u got from National Population Commission (NPC) is not affidavit of birth. It is Attestation of Birth and it carries more weight than affidavit.

My mom was a staff there till she passed and most Nigerians go for that in the absence of original birth certificate, it's worldly recognized too. I used same for my app cos birth certificate was lost during a fire incident.

Hey sis. I am in your situation. Hang in, you will soon

Here's a lil information I'll like to share with my e-family. Might come in handy for a person or two.

My app was filed with my maiden name. At some point I needed to renew my passport cos it was expiring soon so we thought perhaps let's change my name at once since it's something we were eventually going to do. I remember I came here to ask if anyone knew about the process and almost everyone advised I left it considering how AVO operates and feared it might cause delays. I understood perfectly.

Hubby shared a different opinion so we went ahead with the change of name process. I swore an affidavit and did Newspaper publication, (very much needed for processing my new passport) I was yet to conclude/receive my new passport when PPR landed meaning my app was still lodged on CIC with my maiden name. (I was waiting to receive the passport before I can notify CIC about the change)

Finally I got my passport and then wrote a letter explaining I just changed my name. Attached the court affidavit and newspaper publication supporting the change. Binded both old and new and sent to Accra. Few days after my passport was received in AVO I noticed my name changed in my account so it wasn't an one bit.

This was my experience and thought it's worth sharing. Cheers!

you need to submit webform asap wow that's a long time

Question everyone, I noticed that I made a minor error on my IMM1344E (Part 1 Question 6) due to how I interpreted the question. The question asks about relationship to PA, I chose "Spouse living in Canada". Will my application be returned because of this minor error. From what I am reading from other places on this forum it should be "Spouse living outside Canada". Thanks
