If you are a citizen, you certainly can be out of the country while application is processed. If you are PR, you're expected to be in Canada while the application is processed - short visits for a few weeks are however ok. What is your timeline?

Hey narrow, we understand how u are felling. All of us fet the pain of separating from our dear love one for so long.What my spouse did was to visit me spend some time every now and then and go back home because of circular job. However, I don't think it will be an issue for u as a Canadian citizen to go and stay with your husband for sometime as u patiently wait for his PR.
That is my take.
What is your time line.

Congratulations for you guys...but please there are question that left unanswered ,I know our machine mandie never see them ,I trust his good work,### I'm super exited to announced to you guys this good news.. The longest Waiting SA is approved now ,so I'm happy to join the counting down as all of you guys...please I need an urgent answer to this questions,I'm a Nigeria but living in Côte d'ivoire since May my application is sent out,am in permitted to be in another country as the application is in progress? Secondary I have change my phone number to this country phone number, should I go back to Nigeria to save my number? Or should I gave CIC my new phone number? Did AVO communicates with phone instead of email? Will living up to a year here make CIC or AVO to ask me another police check? Please brethrens thanks for taking your times to read this,I'm waiting for your answers.... Jah bless all

I will suggest you update your contact details as you are out Nigeria for a significant amount of time. Use CSE web form to update your details. AVO communicates usually by e-mail but there have been times when they called applicants on phone. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/contacts/web-form.asp
