Got rid of 80% of the backlog
15000 backlog down from 75000
As of Dec 31, met commitment to do 80% of applications within 12 months

Continue to listen to people who are in the system and are continuing to make changes (to guide, checklists)
Changed some of the requirements in the spousal application process - PCC upfront now to make it easier and to allow them to process faster

To those of us still in the system, they are working to complete our files still - government committed to getting this done faster and faster

Now having some people that have been through the process talk about the experience (9 months from Pakistan)

Well, I actually rejoice with the 60K+ that got their applications worked on. It could not have been easy for them. However in that mix is people that applied way after I did and still have their PPR.

It couldn't have been easy and to really, the new government inherited this problem from the old.

Way back in this process I had emailed my MP at the time (I since moved) and she provided me with this link to recommendations that a working group is making towards the process. It is interesting reading:
