Ok. but the anxiety is overwhelming.

Hello everyone!

I have a question. I am a Canadian citizen and will sponsor my Ghanaian husband. We are currently living in the UK though for one year. Does that mean the application would be processed in the UK or still in Ghana?

Also, how else would our time in the UK affect our application?

Many thanks!

Obrunicoco

Are you guys planning to relocate to Canada anytime soon?

Yes, immediately.

I may be wrong, but I believe to sponsor your spouse for Canadian PR you must be resident in Canada, except you are working overseas for a Canadian business/company/organisation(expat)!

Hello friends,

Has anyone recently been contacted by the Visa Office in Accra.

Looking forward to your reply.

Cheers!

Good Morning All and Congrats to all who got their visa

I'm a Canadian citizen. I'm currently have a sponsorship application in place for my husband. Our visa office is Accra.

They request additional information from us in June 2013. We sent this information in August 2013. Our application was sent to Accra office on Aug 2012.
Here are some of the info they requested:
-Repay deportation fees (my husband bought his own ticket, so there was no fees to repay...we sent them proof)
-Police and RCMP clearance
-Bio page of passport

Since we sent the info, they didnt get back to us. Our lawyer sent them an email several times for update but they didnt reply.

Any Suggestions please???

My dear!

I think you just need to wait. They will contact you.

Regards

A canadian citizen can live out of the country during spousal sponsorship as there is no residency requirement for a Canadian Citizen (as there is one for a Canadian PR).

In your application you can most definately put down London as the VO, however in the end it will be the decision by CPC- Missisauga as to where they will forward the application.

Point taken regarding residency, however, that is not the issue!

Ask yourself the question, how can you sponsor a spouse to be a resident if YOU are not currently IN (not resident requirement here) the country, how will they fulfill the residency requirement when they become a PR? The only exception to this rule as I said earlier is for Canadian Expats, currently working overseas for CANADIAN Company!

I will urge the poster to check the sponsorship rules properly!
