Hi Sweetwine, I am new here too. Welcome! I submitted my request to sponsor my husband (who is Nigerian) on January 21st, got notified of receipt for January 28th, 2013 and we got our approval to sponsor on February 20, 2013. We were actually given a different UCI number initially so I was trying to find out what was happening with our application once it left Ontario for Ghana and could not get any information. Finally this month (June) we got email notice of his interview (end of August) and I saw the new UCI. So that was a big relief and I was able to look up our application on the ECas system on the Canadian Immigration Website.

It might take longer for you to get approval for sponsorship. I'm assuming your husband is sponsoring you. But if you look on the Canadian Immigration website, it will tell you how long on average it is taking to process eligibility for sponsorship (Family Category) and typically it is about 1 month. Then you can go to the country specific site and look to see how long on average it takes. When I first looked at this info, it was 11 months for Ghana applications (so a total of 12 months). However, by the end of August, it will have only been 6-7 months for our application to be processed.

It's a process of patience!

Hi all, I'm pretty new here. My husband is a permanent resident.
Sent application on the 27 of may via courier to missagua(hope I spelt it well) it was received on the 29th of may. Got acknowledgment of reciept on the 20th of june. Pls how long do u think it will take before we r told we r eligible to sponsor.and how long it will take before it gets to accra. I'm a nigerian by the way.
I'm so anxious!

Medical was done-may 11th
Application sent- may 27th
Recieved-may 29th
AOR- june 20th
Sponsorship approval-june 24th
File transferred to Accra office- june 24th

Please I need advice here my case is serious


My husband is a permanent resident in canada,he sent in our application april 19th 2012 then I was preganent,he recevied approval july 19th and was forwarded tovisa office accra,accra email us 4 interview by nov 6th,then I already had my baby,was asked to add her to my application as dependent child. Have sent in everything even CQS still am still waiting to hear from them. Please does anyone have an idea of my case and how long I will have to wait? It nt just easy raising a child all by my self

It means your application is in a line waiting to be processed. They won`t tell you how long it will take; they may not know, since each application has different good and bad points. Some people have recently had their applications processed in just a few months, however, so you might too.

Now here is my story I apply for a visitor visa to Canada in 2011 and was refused
Now I am married with my wife since 2yrs now.
Here is my worry I want to apply fr a family class visa and my biggest worry now is...
In my previous application I fill out my 3siblings date of births and now I forgot the dates and I'm very much worried if the dates they gave me this time is not same with threvious dates and months.
Pls have any one gone through this???
And again I'm considering stating this in my application to let them know incase if they found any fault.
Pls I need help as what to do now??.

Your sponsor in Canada could request your FOSS notes and GCMS notes: these will have the details of your previous TRV application. Or you could just add a note to the form saying you are not sure of the birth dates of your siblings, but have given your best guess.
