Hi Everyone,
I have previously posted our struggle to bring our adopted daughter to Canada - then she was 5...now she is almost 7 years old and our battle is still ongoing.
Last year they denied our application, we filed an appeal and when the court said they would hear the case and set a date, the office in Accra took the file back to "reconsider it" rather than go through the court (it is clear they have no grounds). They then sat with it for another 6 months with no contact, during which time we stepped up our efforts and with our lawyer prepared to file for a writ of mandamus. Once notified of the intent to file for the writ, they have now requested our attendance at an interview in Accra - us (adoptive parents), biological parents (who have not had contact with each other in years, father who has never seen the child, mother who has seen her twice in 5 years), and our daughter. They all live in Nigeria and we live in Canada.
Our interview is on Dec 13 - just asking for lots of prayers and support that this is the end of the long battle. It may be a wonderful Christmas, or not...
