Hello,

I'm a Canadian sponsoring my husband from Ghana to immigrate to Canada as a PR.

We applied August, 2015, and hr was requested to send his passport in for his PR visa on July 11, 2016.

He sent his visa on July 15, 2016. The email from immigration said to send the passport by DHL with a self-addressed return envelope. DHL in Kumasi said they do not offer this service, so we went to Fed-Ex, who also said they don't offer this service. They said immigration will notify us when to pick it up and then we should bring a letter to them authorizing them to pick it up.

1. How will immigration notify us to pick it up? By email or post?

2. How long does it normally take for them to send your passport back?

Any help is appreciated! Thank you!

AVO will send your spouse e-mail indicating passport ready for collection and the take that e-mail to DHL (recommended) to collect the passport on your behalf. Do as the courier service is telling you.

We got an email to send our passport, police report and some other forms on July 06 2016...sent it on July 12 2016 and was received by CIC Accra on July 15 2016

Exactly 2 weeks later..this morning., My spouse got an email that his passport was ready for pick up

Hello.

Try and insist on the return envelope. I met a newbie at DHL in Accra who did the return envelope for me. Later when I called DHL to find out if they'd picked up they said they did not offer that service so they "were surprised someone did it for me." Since you have specified/limited time to submit the passport I propose you send it without the return envelope if you're not succesful. You should get a pick-up mail eventually and then use that to instruct them to pick up for you. I know AVO works with VFS or DHL (so not sure about FedEx). Since I included a return envelope I never got a pick-up mail or a response to my query but the passport came eventually.

My passport took roughly a month. Arrived at the embassy June 19th and was returned July 12th.

Check email...my spouse got an email today saying passport is ready for pick up.am the sponsor.

The pick up email was sent this morning and my husband went to DHL to make arrangements already. I pray for showers of PPR from AVO this new month!!

have you gotten any word back? It says they review it and give answer within 30 days...they received my additional documents on july 3rd...so we should hear soon, but isnt it past 30 days for you?
