Looking forward to meeting. But here is a question I have. I someone has a passport expiring early January 2016, but their medicals expire in February 2015. Does CIC send a passport request before the passport expires or they wait and ask for a new passport? Also, how long do they typically give someone to fly out before the passport expires if that's the case? 3 weeks? 5 weeks? Any idea? Thanks.

mandiebraxton already answered that, your passport need to be valid for at least 6 months and concerning time giving to fly depend on your 'medical' even though they always state it that your visa is valid until the expiration of your medical or your passport, whichever comes first but don't get it wrong if your passport will expire in January they will not issue the visa, it's better you get your passport renew and the way l see things maybe they will request for another medical because yours expired February 2015, l hope you have more understanding about the whole stuff now, l wish you good luck, God bless.

The waiting is not easy at all especially when your husband or wife is sick and you are not there to take care of him or her. Very soon we all will have a testimonies..God is in control

If you try and occupy yourself with something fun the stress and the anxiety will be reduced. I have been forced to register for boxing just to keep my mind from stressing. before i would sit at work and stare at the screen and not do anything. we just cant do anything about what happens at AVO. all we can do is pray and hope. Mat 6:27 "can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?" same apply to real life situation like this. it is well dear brothers and sisters.

Actuallym sorry - Medicals expire February 2016 / But: Alright, that's fine. It was just an inquiry and thanks for giving some light to it. We have seen people travel in the past with passports near expiry. Because it was held by CIC while nearing the expiry, it was processed and immigration released it early enough for the person to leave, as a nation cannot refuse entry to a person if they have a valid visa even if the passport expires the next day. I was actually looking at, how long would immigration give such a person to travel before that expiry date. We'll tell them to get another passport. Not a problem. Thanks for the answer. Lamour u are right. I am even more anxious than before. I stopped checking my ecas because i expected feb and march applicants to receive request of passport form Avo first. I was suprised on the 29th of September my husband forwarded a mail from cic accra to me that ur application has be updated. I did not bother to check after all i am a may applicant. 30th of September i decided to check the ecas and i found in progress. What could have lead to that if not the hand of God working on this file.

CIC/AVO, immigration as a whole is apparently not only depending on when the application was received. It's case by case which also depends on a lot of other factors.
In all, being positive is the key, take one day at a time and move on with other activities knowing that there is actually nothing we can actually do to change the speed.

Yeah, still in process. Still waiting.
Changed to in process August 19. Then another changes August 26. Same in process but then it specified the date they started processing the application. Until now, nothing else.
