Dear All,

Has anyone checked the News Release: Government welcomes Royal Assent of Bill C-24..... One of the points I read under quick fact is:

Citizenship applicants will need to be physically present in Canada for a total of four out of their last six years. In addition, they will need to be physically present in Canada for 183 days per year for at least four of those six years. These provisions will come into force in approximately a year.

Does someone has any idea about this? Kindly check this link http://news.gc.ca/web/article-en.do?&nid=859509

It is also projected that by 2015-2016, the current backlog will be reduced by more than 80 percent.

Again 2015-2016 ................... I think last promise was upto 2014-2015 :( One more LOLYPOP

yes you are right
Quick facts

Requiring 14-64 year-olds to meet knowledge and language requirements provides an incentive for more individuals to acquire official language proficiency and civics knowledge, which helps them successfully integrate into Canadian society.

Under the new streamlined decision-making model, citizenship officers will decide all aspects of a citizenship application. Under the old model, obtaining citizenship was a three-step process that involved duplication of work.

There has been 6 months since I sent them updated doc + PC second time , but there in no response yet.
God knows what they are going to do with my application next, I am hopeless.

Suggest your request CAIPS, while simultaneously sending a case status enquiry to CIC.

Dear Nekeol
I plan to finally move to Canada in May 2015 and have already got the visas stamped ion April 2014. Would this change be affecting me as well or would I fall under old rules?

Please elaborate. Thanks

Dear All

The new rules citizenship rules apply to all who will apply for citizenship after a year. So that includes all of us who are preparing to land in Canada soon. We will have to spend 4 years out of 6 years in Canada to apply for citizenship, previously it was 3 out of 5. But the good news is they are clearing the backlog, now a days after applying for citizenship it takes on average 18 months to receive passport. They are planning to take that time down to under 6 months
