Thanks Sharma1990!! I emailed them on friday and got reply on monday and extended for 1yr.
I applied through representative so no idea about dat.
Hope u will get soon. I am reading your posts from starting because i applied first time on aug23 and got rejection. Applied second time in dec.

Hello, Congratz on your PPR.

May I know how did you email CIC? My medicals expire on November 7th and I can no longer move fully to Canada directly due to my notice period which is 3 months if i was to quit my current job.

I emailed CPC-Ottawa which is my secondary VO (primary is ADVO and they never reply), but CPC Ottawa told me it is not their responsibility as the file is not with them.

Please share how you contacted them and what did you say exactly to request a medical extension? I really do not want to repeat medicals because it is a waste of money and time.

Regards,

Yesterday my BG finally went in progress. Been over 6.5 months for me. Hopefully it was a good news.

Hi just a query is bg going to "in prpgress" in my CIC a good sign always? I am an Fsw 2014 applicant..linked my paper application to mycic and it says bg in progress since 21St May'16. Want to understand from the EE applicants the significance of it and when to expect PPR.
Will really appreciate a reply!

hey, i like your signature,

for EE it is usually a good sign, for fsw non ee it should be too but hard to predict the time frame.

on average it takes 1-2 weeks to receive PPR after bg goes to IP for an EE applicant.

Thank you for your reply. I guess Warsaw Visa office is kinda slow. They have taken almost 15 months to give med request
Hope PPR is given in August. Waiting fot almost 19 months now..not easy. Specially when they havent verified or called me yet. Except for 3 countries Pcc requests last year in Aug 2015.

I know its hard. I emailed them on CPC-CTD-Ottawa@cic.gc.ca
I asked them my status and requested to extend my medicals because it was expiring in july.
I think mine was almost complete so they extended. Moreover my file was in ottawa.

Generally YES it should be valid for a year. The reason is that they put a sticker which is the immigrant visa (that allows you to enter Canada) to complete your landing as a permanent resident. CIC doesn't issue visas beyond passport expiry. That means you would have to land before the visa expiry.

You can always renew your passport even after PPR and send them the renewed passport instead explaining the situation. That would only get you one full year max validity of COPR and VISA assuming your medicals are also valid for a year.

But when you renew an old passport and get a new one, usually the old one is stamped with a statement "A new passport has been issued in lieu of this one" which invalidates it. Even if this is not the case, you should not try using an older passport at this point.

Thanks for the detailed response fkl, so do they stamp it in the new one instead ? I'm probably going to send both my new and old one. I think the new passport will have a reference to the old passport

Yes new passport will have reference to old one and they should stamp visa in the new one.

Though at that stage (i.e. after receiving PPR), CIC doesn't ask for old passports. That only adds to the confusion. Just submitting the latest one is enough. It should contain reference to old one. If you are too cautious, you can add a brief letter explaining it and a copy of old passport.

Received PPR yesterday. Hang in there guys. I know its frustrating for everyone in this thread, but just hang in there.
