Hi mokachino,

No need to worry!
I checked the BOWP for you, and it is 26 days for online applications and 97 days for paper applications. (update by June 6, 2016)
Even if your previous work permit expired, and you did apply for your BOWP. You are in imply status. (I was in imply status)
Hanging there, I believe your ppr will come in short time!
Good Luck!

Just bumping up this questions from yesterday: does anyone know the processing time for getting bridging open work permit for people waiting on the EE PR?
Also having waited for 13 months and a week, does anyone remember anybody waiting more than 14 months? I remember a user here reporting a 14 month wait time until s/he got the PPR. I seem to be the second record holder right now.

Hey all. I have a question. Now, due to this huge 6+ month delay of inaction from the local VO, it is very likely that my already submitted police clearances will cross one year of validity. And in case they ask for fresh PCCs, getting new ones from South Africa (current residence) and India (citizenship) is no problem! Will take only a month each roughly. But getting a new FBI one from the US is a HUGE pain because they take 3 to 4 months to process!

Luckily I have a copy of a more recent FBI one from March 2016 that I got for renewing my current South African visa. I went and notarised it as well to be safe. Will that do? in case they ask for fresh FBI PCC? And besides, I left the US in 2009 and have never gone back! Surely the submitted one from 2015 is still valid then, isn't it? I would like some clarification on this.

I really hope they don't ask for fresh PCCs due to what is essentially THEIR delay!

I highly doubt they would be asking for new PCCs, especially for an FBI one. I haven't seen anyone with a delay who's been asked to provide fresh police certificates. I am assuming everything is passed for you, except for security. In that case, they've reviewed all your documents, and I don't think they would go back once again to review it one more time. I don't think you need to worry about this.

I believe one can extend medicals by another year by submitting a CSE online. I don't suppose we have to redo the medicals if we get it extended by another year. I'm also facing the very real possibility of having to extend it because my medicals is expiring in November.

By the way, do you post in that other SACanada forum?
Hi Musikwala

Yes I do post on SA Canada. Thanks for the info, I will send through a CSE. Should this be sent to Pretoria? You were also asking about PCC's. You usually only have to renew the PCC for the country you are currently residing in so that remains valid. I'm quite sure the validity is 6 months. For countries you've lived in previously you don't need to renew as long as you haven't returned after the PCC was issued. It's on the CIC website somewhere.

Hope that helps.

Thanks ToCanadawego and DandK! Yeah, then the max I'll have to do is get a local SA one... and that too, if they ask. Phew, that's a relief!

DandK, I would send the CSE both thru the online web form and that pretoria im inquiry email address that is shown there on that same webpage. I'm not 100% sure but I think the former goes to Ottawa and the latter goes to Pretoria.

Thanks Tempa.

Did you get your GCSM notes to see what was the source of delay?
Mine, to my surprise, shows that the original BG check, which was requested a couple of months after I submitted my application, was cancelled around 6 months later and a new one was requested just a couple of months before I hit the 12-month mark. I can't say for sure by it seems like some bureaucratic problem happened and 6 months were wasted there.

Hi mokachino,

According to my personal experience, it is really based on your VO how to process your application.
There's no pattern.
In my case, my application just lay down waiting for my BG check in most of time(about 1 year).
But since they decide to process your application, it would become fast, could be in a week or so.
Sending them CSEs doesn't really help in my case. All I got from them is standard reply.
What I think is, they claim process cases in 6 months not include Background/Security Checks.
And most cases need to be additional verified will be pull out and put in a queue waiting for checks.
Some checks not done by CIC, could be other institutions, therefore, they don't know how long it gonna takes.
I truly believe your case will be finalized in short time!!
Good Luck to you!!

Can anyone here help me out?
I am waiting since 7 month 23 days... gonna b 8 month in next week.
I have tried everything like, urgent mail, CSE, Calls and they saying that they still reviewing my file.

In the month of July, our IELTS is expiring, so till the time if I dont get result then would they ask for IELTS another time?
and i dont know why its taking so long to reviewing my application.
In last request letter, they asked for Scheduled A specifically for the rejection of visa I had in past for UK student dependent and visitor.. and specifically they mentioned in request letter that they are reviewing our UK PCC as there is a caution in my UK PCC coz of silly mistake while i was there.

But still it should not take this much long

Oh Krishan, sadly we cannot help you either, as we are all swimming in the same waters of uncertainty. I guess best I can tell you is to have patience, although I am having a hard time exercising that myself. Just hang in there - your time will come.

NO. You do not need to re-take IELTS. It is sufficient if your IELTS is valid at time of submission of e-APR.

I sent an email as per CIC's suggestion for applications that have passed the expected processing times (i.e., 6 months for EE). They replied saying we have received and confirmed your information, your application is in process.

Any idea how much longer do i need to wait approximately?
I am planning to travel, do i need to inform CIC?

Thanks a lot!
Best of Luck!
No, you don't have to inform CIC about your travels.

I had been waiting for more than 10 months after 2 AORs. I have never been asked for PR request fee. Background check also not started yet. My agent sent an email and got a reply that 'there is no maximum processing time limit'. What should I do?
What you can do is simply email them CSE saying that "i am writing to you as per your suggestion for applicants whose application has passed the regular waiting times...."

I did the same and they replied positively.
