Guys do you know if it's allowed to travel while you are waiting for BOWP or after getting it?
Definitely not while waiting for it if you are already on implied status. If you leave Canada on implied status, you might not be let back in if you are from a visa-required country. You can be let back in if you are from a visa waiver country, but you won't be allowed to work until you get PR or a permit. After you have a BOWP, I have no idea if you can leave. Anyone?

After having the BOWP approved and paper work issued, you are free to travel and come back to Canada. There is no issue as you are holding a valid work permit for a particular period of time. Please be advise, during implied status you are not allowed to travel except within Canada.

I am in the same situation. My employer hired a lawyer for my BOWP and LMIA. He advised me about this restrictions.

No when you have a work permit you still can't re-enter canada unless with an entry visa, its specifically says on the work permit (doesnt allow re-entry)

Exceptions include the US since it's considered continuous territory, a work permit alone can allow travel across the US border.

I have personally traveled between Canada and US with a work permit alone, and was personally denied entry with a work permit without a visitor visa when traveling from europe.

Wifedoctor and mrazzak, are you from visa-needed or visa exempt countries? I can travel to Canada from anywhere on an open work permit (not a BOWP) as I don't need a visa to enter Canada.

I have re-entered without having a visitor visa and with only open work permit more than 6 times already. Immigration just took a note about my re-entry, nothing else. I am not from a visa exempt country.

Yes. I just don't know if a BOWP functions more like an open work permit, or more like implied status.

Implied status implies that you do not have valid paper works except your application for bridging work permit is being process or anything similar. Having work permit which has been bridged is a valid open work permit. Having a valid work permit allows you to get in and out of the country until it expires.

So if you have a BOWP valid for one year, and your PR application that is the basis of that permit is turned down, you can continue working until the BOWP expires?

Any updates today for May applicants? Looks like it's been a slow week...

For the most applicants, nope ;D

In the IP thread, PedDoc got an ghost email, but his IP was on August 5th.

I think we should patiently wait for another two weeks ;)

This morning, my MyCIC was updated to show that my application had been approved, and my case was closed. Then my return tracker activated later this afternoon.

Unlike the previous paper based system where one could get BOWP based on AOR, now one need positive eligibility assessment completed to get one. I would say positive eligibility assessment or second AOR is kind of a confirmation of PR. So, it is very unlikely that someone's BOWP is still valid while the PR application is being rejected. If that happens that I would guess the BOWP will be invalid also.
