Regarding the foreign workers strike I read the websites too. But, the one thing that concerns me is that although they did not list Vienna in complete stoppage like the other offices abroad-ie Hong Kong or Tokyo. Can we be sure that Vienna is working at full capacity?
I am really concerned about how our government continues to ignore the foreign worker demands and that they are also not stepping in. I personally think their demands should be met and the government is to blame. Without contract since 2011 is not good. I guess I am trying to say it should never of reached this point. These are Canadian government offices we are talking about.
I have never felt so helpless as I do now
My husband is from Serbia, and Vienna received our docs on September 27th. 2012. It is now July 2013 and we are still pending background checks. We sent translations and cert. copies of his military booklet in December, and are on the second medical exam as the first one expired. The old cic website states a max of 12 months (not sure about the new one they put up) for those who apply outside of Canada. This was prioritized for a reason so that we are not apart from our loved ones. Right??? The reality is far from this. Well , we are now in our 10th month in Vienna. Keeping in mind Mississauga received our application on April 27, 2012. If we would of known that the government does not respect the maximum application times we both would of made other plans in terms of our work. I am sorry but I am a very disappointed Canadian right now. We all pay very large fees for these applications , and okay, I understand no process can be taken care of in a perfect time frame. But I feel as if, if that if it ends up not being the case (as each case is specific) , that we at least have a right to know what the hold up is. And if there is one, be given an estimate of how much longer it will take.
I apologize for the vent but it is very frustrating.
I am debating on whether to work in Europe come August because the strike may backlog us even more, and the worst part is no one knows for how long. Anyone have any positive news
to offset this bad reality that we are facing right now?
