The risk of landing without US visa

Vinny,

The best thing to do is for you to get a US Visa. It saves you a lot of time and effort explaning why you tried to enter a country without having a visa. You will never know when it can create a hindrance for you.

Also if you ever need to leave the country on a short notice for whatever reason, it's going to be a lot easier for you to make a quick trip to the US and then you can come back to Canada (even if your TRV has expired).

Last week my friend went for landing at Fort erie ( to make u-turn) he said , officers were not allowing him to do landing process, seems rules have been changed since last week.Now on for landing we have to cross the border .

Now my question is, we both don't have US visa. As we all know people cross rainbow bridge without US visa and get reject slip (Flag Pole).

What are the possibility of flag pole would effect in future if we apply for US visa?

Again, in my experience, if you have a chance to apply for lawful admission into a country, do it. US Immigration will later definitely ask you about a refusal on these grounds.

The thing is, me and my wife need visas to enter the US, and I heard they require to interview you in person in an Embassy/Consulate to get a visa. There's no US Embassy/Consulate in the city I live in...

a post from Jul 12th 2008 always check the date of your references, as up to date there is not problem at all, some friends (6 months ago)and familiars (two months ago)got their us visa a week after landing by flagpoling no problems no questions asked

One thing is for sure: if they don't mark down your personal info, like they take your passport to record the name, DoB etc, you should be fine as they don't even know who's who. I don't think they'll go back to check security camera recordings, but you never know :

I would strongly advise not to get entry refusal from the US.

Even though it is "just an administrative refusal". It will stay on your record and may cause trouble / delay in your next entry to the US.

Not true. An administrative refusal does not mean a refusal of entry to US, got this from a US border agent. I did a flag pole landing and later applied and got a US visitor visa for 10 years. I must have traveled to the US 20 times since then and never got pulled into secondary screening.

BTW, getting pulled into secondary screening is not the end of the world. It just means the border agent has some concerns and wants to ask a few more questions. If you have nothing to hide, you are free to go.

Hard to believe but i get pulled into secondary screening everytime i travel into Canada by myself from overseas. Its just a hassle because it takes an extra hour or so while they ask you questions and mostly go through your baggage to find anything illegal.

You can get a Us visitor visa if you want to play safe but if you dont have the time, call the border crossing you intend to go to and ask them about flag poling. It is a very normal procedure and if you have been granted a canadian PR, why would they turn you back from Canada 9unless you have a warrant outstanding or something in which case they would not have granted you PR in the first place).

lol, they are not playing "administrative" means you went to the border and did not tried to cross it illegally, and by your own will ask to go back...nothing illegal... so nothing to worry. Other example is when you go to the border and being there you realize you forgot your visa

Correct. This is exactly why they have Administrative Refusal as an entirely separate concept.
