Hi everyone!

My husband and I live in Vietnam, we applied for permanent residency to Canada (Quebec) back in July 2013. I went to check his online file and happy to see that they added the following notes:
-we have started treating your demand the 29th of november 2013
-we have received your medical files

Is that quick or what? What knd of update do you think I should be expecting to receive next? Any more details would be great.
Hoping my husband and I may be back in Canada just in time for the Francopholies and Jazz Festivals in Montreal, Summer 2014

Congratulations on getting one step closer to PR.
Does it really say "we have started treating your demand"? on ECAS or does it say "we are currently working on your application"?

I don't know how Vietnam works, but in India, the visa office asks for the passport first then determines if you need an interview or not after looking at the files.
Shouldn't you have already sent your IMM5669 background declaration when you submitted the application. Maybe you can send a copy of that and your good conduct certificate with a note saying that you had sent the original. Unless your good conduct certificate has expired and you have to redo it.

Good with your application processing. Hopefully we can all be in Canada with our spouses soon.

Hi! Thanks for your answer. To answer your questions, the letter we received today said the following (word per word):
your application for [permanent resident visa is nearly complete. in order to proceed towards with issuance of your p.r visa with minimal delay, you must follow the steps outlined below

and when we check the application online, it was written, word per word:
-We received your application for permanent residence on July 29, 2013.
-We started processing your application on November 29, 2013.
-Medical results have been received.

As for the police check, it's quite frustrating since we gave them the official paper with the translation when we applied back in July 2013 (it's only 4ish months old!). That paper is very annoying process to get this paper in here (paperwork is a pain in this country!) As for the IMM5669, we have already given it back in July 2013. I have a feeling that they may have lost some of our papers in the process. Back in Aug.2013, they asked us to send a few copies of a few documents by email. Which was odd since we had sent them just a month ago!

Anyone else from Vietnam (spousal sponsorship) who can give me their advice/opinion?

Just wanted to report, my husbands passport was requested Dec 5 in Algiers/ Paris office and it was returned to him today Dec 22. He is booked in and will be arriving to me late Xmas eve! It has been months since we've seen each other from the only week we've spent together since our marriage in April. It's been a long haul but it's here! I pray to you all you get good news soon and you will be with your loved ones before you know it! In the end it will all be worth it!!

Sadly, nothing new from my side. My Visa office has not issued any PR visas since November and are currently processing a few May applicants. I am beginning to believe that I will get some new/s from them in July 2014 considering the snail pace at which they are working right now.But the time will fly and all this waiting will be a distant memory.

My hubby just submitted the lacking resquirements just a week ago sis. So maybe you will get yours first. And I dont know if only takes a month coz other applicant requested for there GCMS note last November and untill now they did not got theirs yet. A week into the new year already. Is it just me or is time really flying by?

I just stayed home because the weather was really bad. And I watched the live telecast of the ball drop at New York City with my family. Kinda fell asleep 15 minutes before the countdown...lol.. and woke up 5 minutes after midnight because I had a long day at work. And it's not the same without my husband to celebrate with. Well there is always next year's new year that we will be together for, at least that is what I hope.
