Hi dear, I have a strong feeling that you'll get the AOR and SA soon. Just be patient...it will arrive sooner than you think it will be.

Hi everyone! We just got confirmation of our application being received, exciting!

Medicals completed June 30
Application sent July 24
Received by CIC (according to their email) July 26

Am I correct in understanding that we can't check our status online until it's actually in processing? Is that after they give sponsorship approval? I tried to check after they sent the email with the UCI and application number but it's still not finding us. It's the applicant's name, right?

We are applying through the Paris visa office and hope to be in Canada by next June….. Anyone else applying through Paris? My husband is Portuguese

A bit worried about sponsorship approval as we both live outside of Canada in Dubai for work…hoping they have no doubts that I want to go home! Hopefully they can see that I would never, ever let my husband go without me. My parents (retired down south) and brother (lives in Dubai with me) live outside of Canada (despite all of my cousins, aunts, uncles, grandparents, etc etc living in Canada) which also worries me that they'll doubt my intention to go home.

Our proof included: preparations for my application to law school including LSAT score, emails between law schools, emails with my own university, letters between family about the move, emails from companies giving us quotations for moving, etc. Will that be enough??

Do you think me wanting to go to law school will make them worry about our financial situation? We have loads of savings but I didn't actually provide proof of that although we do verbally mention it in an email with my mom in which we were talking about possibly buying a house...

Hi Caracol,

yes the email from CIC mean that is the AOR. (Acknowledgment of Receipt).

After this AOR, you will receive another email from CIC regarding SA (Sponsor Approval). Once you get the SA letter, that completes the "Step-1" and your application will be transferred to the appropriate Visa Office.

I saw in the spreadsheet that you've marked today as my AOR date? Is that what the email means - that everything is complete and good to go? What does AOR stand for? Sorry for all the questions! *anxious newby here*
