You mention lawyers - why do you think you might need the incur the considerable extra cost of using them for a spousal sponsorship?canuck_in_uk said:Hi
Roughly $1500.
The applications fees are $1040. The medical is generally around $300, though that can jump way up outside of Canada. Other costs cam include PCCs, mailing the app, any documents that need to be obtained/notarized/translated, paper/ink etc.
!!!!! How?wjmund said:It varies a lot. My cost all in is now about $20,000. Many others have spent more.
Trips, translations, etc. The lawyer we consulted with told us $10-$13 k after all was done. And our case is pretty simple.Bcboundboy said:!!!!! How?
I mean, actually, how can you spend that much on filling some forms, paying a courier, printing some photos, and paying a $1,040 fee?
Unless you have a horribly complicated case, involving lawyers actively working for several years (in which case, frankly, you would know going into it that you wouldn't qualify), how could a person possibly spend anywhere close to that amount on it?
You really don't need a lawyer. The majority of us did the process on our own.WillNAS said:I cant really see why I'd need a lawyer though. I have no criminal background, and I'm from an English speaking country (no need for a translator)
The only problem I can foresee is that we have not been married too long, and we don't have tons of evidence.
Just shared lease, photo's, messages, both have fairly decent jobs. However from what I've read, it seems like pot luck in regard to what immigration officer you get.

To clarify, here on the forum, "landing" specifically means becoming a PR. If you are here on a work permit, you have not landed.WillNAS said:I'm already landed (open work visa), and living and working here. Has been a year now.
