Why does the call center no longer put you on hold and makes you phone back instead... it's so frustrating. I've been trying all week to get through to them and just spent the last 2 hours phoning constantly only to listen to the voice mail say that they are now closed for the weekend. How frustrating!!!

The call center's hours of operation is only until 4:30pm EDT that's why it did not put you on hold and told you to call back on Monday to Friday 8:30-4:30. There's no one around to answer your call, they all went home most probably.

I called last Wednesday at 1:00pm local time and was put on hold... For 15 minutes! :)

Anytime I've phoned the last couple weeks, and it doesn't matter what time I phone, it could be a Monday at 9 or a Wednesday at noon or today at 3, I never get put on old anymore... it always tells me to try again... :-\

u have to call back to back to back
might take 10 trys back to back sometimes to get a rude lady on the phone

Jd, I had the same issue. Probably, they can only put so many people on hold. I had to call about 30 times over a period of 2 hours until I was finally put on hold for 30 minutes.

was talking to a agent at call center, she was a very nice lady
she told me the best time to call is early morning, 5:00am mountain time

Hey thanks mi, I'll have to try and drag my butt out of bed that early to see if I can get through. On Friday I started phoning 2 hours before the call center closed and as soon as I was told to call back, I hung up and redialed and couldn't get through at all.

Love_Young, I live fairly close to Edmonton.

I have always had the best luck calling on Thursdays....but i haven't bothered for ages. No one ever says the same thing!

Call around these hours for your local time. Call at the earliest for your time. And also don't call on a Monday. Everyone has waited for the weekend to pass to get in touch with them so they will definitely be busy then.

"The CIC call centre is open 8am - 4pm local time, everywhere in Canada. This actually means it can be reached for 12.5 hours every day wherever you are - as early as 3.30am PST and as late as 8.30pm in Newfoundland:
Pacific: 3:30am - 4pm
Mountain: 4:30am - 5pm
Central: 5:30am - 6pm
Eastern: 6:30am - 7pm
Atlantic: 7:30am - 8pm
Newfoundland: 8am - 8:30pm

when i call, usually the first time, i dont even get the line, then after 3 attempts i get the line but i wait for 15-20 minutes on hold before i can actually tak to an agent, once i waited almost 30 minutes before talking to the agent. i think i ve always tried thursdays and fridays and they say those are the "least " busy days....

I'll just keep trying, it's just so darn frustrating sometimes not being able to get through, like we don't have enough on our minds...

Awww....Justina, I can't agree with you more. I haven't call them more than 2 months since I never got the same answer from any of them. Well, not exactly, at least they all told me "they don't know where my app is, I have only need to wait for 10 months as their website mentioned." ::) ::)

i've been trying to get a hold of a cic call centre agent ever since last friday afternoon - no luck.

i've been calling them continuously for over an hour this morning only to hear the phone ring and then the call drops!

it was never this difficult before.. something's up!!
