I have applied under Canadian Experience Class and my application is in progress for last 96 days. I received AOR on July 7, 2018. Medical status changed to pass on 12 July, since that time it shows "we are processing your background check". I contacted to CIC-Ottawa and they sent me this message "Your file is currently under review and requires additional verifications. As a result, the assessment period will be outside of our posted processing times.
Unfortunately at this time we are not able to determine when your application will be finalized, but our office will contact you as soon as all verifications are completed, or if any additional information or documents are required.
I don't know what does it mean and what is going on in my file. I am extremely worried because my work permit is going to expire on Dec 31 2018.
thanks,
Amar

Hello everyone,
I'm new here but i need advice.
I have a bit of concerns regarding my eAPR. I know once application is submitted, IRCC do conduct background checks and online checks to very a person's info as relating to the one provided in their application. i am yet to submit my eAPR, but i'm worried because i have a negative online presence relating to a fraud case. I was wrongly accused of fraud at my place of work, but was later vindicated without any criminal charges whatsoever. However, the press got a wind of the case before they could verify the facts and published it online and now that I've been exonerated, they is no information online to counter the negative press.

I am still working with the same organisation till date and i would be getting my employment reference letter from there and my police certificate will definitely be clear as i have no criminal history or charges.

My concern now is, what will happen to my application should they check my info by typing my name into google search? should i give the details of this in my personal history or letter of explanation? or should i not?

I await your swift response. Thank you in anticipation.

I got gcms note a few days ago. The very latest activity 1 said ‘medical passed’ but the assessment said ‘’medical in process’. Which is correct?

Hi LegalFalcon. Thank you for such detailed review on BG check. I am a feb 8, 2017 applicant. PNP Ontario. Got my eligibility cleared at begining of this year and then got medical clear in March 2018. Now its over my 19 month processing time, no clue why my security/ BG check still going on. Also, I have very limited travel history. Only to my home country in last 5 year. Can you shed some light on why such a delay and how long should I be waiting? My last GCMS notes say that PS open and it began on MAy 22, 2018. Then another activity on June 19, 2018. Nothing after that.

Hello @legalfalcon

In your post you mentioned to contact CSIS to inquire about the status of the application. Do we need to contact CBSA as well ? Since there both part of the security screening process ?
Also I’ve read somewhere else that a complaint can be made to SIRC (Security Intelligence Review Committee) . Is that also another option to go about this?

Your advice would be much appreciated,
Thanks

This is when I wrote the post. Now CSIS and CBSA are not responding to any letters, instead you will need to request CBSA and CSIS reports.

SIRC (Security Intelligence Review Committee) is a legislative committee, and has nothing to do with the security screenings of individual actions.

Don't read anything to the standard format replies, instead request GCMS notes.

I cannot predict. Instead you should request CBSA / CSIS notes and see if the agencies have finished their involvement in your application.

So your BGC is under progress and soon you should have the PPR. BGC is unpredictable as there are many factors that influence it. But if you don't have much travel history, you should be good.
Hi, Can I use the blank activities to judge I am now 100% under security screening? If I am, how long does it usually take now. mant thanks.

Hi, Legalfalcon, this is what I just got from Ralph Goodale email,

"Dear XXX - I spoke to IRCC regarding your application received June 30, 2018. It is at the Centralized Intake Office in Sydney, NS. Standard processing time is 6 months. This means 80% of routine applications are completed within that time frame, while 20% take longer. Eligibility and criminality are passed. Your spouse’s security checks are passed. Your security checks were initiated Aug 23, 2018 and are in progress. They cannot be expedited and timelines are not available. Medicals are valid until June 30, 2019."

Does "security check" mean security screening? How fast can I expect my security to be done? (I also have blank 4 activites on my GCMS notes, which are widely believed pointers to SS) Thanks.

I did apply to CSIS a month ago. They have sent the snail mail, so I am unsure when will I receive it.
