Have you gone through regular security check or security screening ? And when did it start ?

Hello everyone,

Just a quick question is background check similar for student applications I mean the time frame.I applied for a student visa online from Pakistan on 27 sep and still waiting med done biometrics done just stuck on background check...any idea anyone how long will it take or any chances of getting a study permit after this much time?

i want to order gcms notes can anyone confirm if gcms notes show whether u have chosen for SECURITY SCREENING or not?

thank you

Lately GCMS notes have retracted information about SS. You should get your GCMS notes and see if they have the SS or not. If not, then go for the CBSA notes. They have the GCMS notes and the security info is not retracted.

For all Temp visas the BGC is much faster than for PR.

@legalfalcon - My application recently moved to IP2 after a long wait in IP1. Recently folks who moved to IP2 got the PPR emails the same day or the next day. But, I still haven't received any email.

I called IRCC customer support and spoke to a live agent and the person said I passed the background check and its just a matter of time. What does this mean? What comes after BGC? Can you please advise. Appreciate your help.

Thank you

First off there is nothing such as IP or IP2. The status messages in your MyCIC account mean nothing.

All application go through the following stages:

R10
Criminality
Medicals
Eligibility
Security or BGC

After the BGC, which is the last step, the report is reviewed by IRCC and PPR is issued. To know what stage your application is at, you need to see GCMS notes. However, since you called IRCC call centre, and they confirmed that your BGC is cleared, just wait.
