I called IRCC call center again today and was told my application for PR has been approved but no email has been sent after the approval. When I asked why is it taking so long to send an email when my application has already been approved, the agent said everything has a process and its just a matter of time and for sure they haven't out an email yet. So that's a relief, my PR is approved and I didn't miss the PPR email.
Congrats. Whats your AOR and VO?

Hi @legalfalcon. I ordered CSIS notes last month but was told my SS is undergoing and they can't provide them till the screening is done. The letter mentioned I could complain after two months if I didn't hear back from them. Question is how do I raise a complaint and does it need to be by a lawyer? And does that mean the SS should be concluded in two months? and last do you reckon it's worth ordering CBSA notes at this stage?...Cheers mate

I guess you are confused about the complaint part. If your SS is under progress, CSIS will not issue anything, and they inform you that if your are not satisfied with the response, you can then file a complaint with ICC.

Only after your CSIS's involvement in your file is concluded will they release anything.

The CBSA notes are not a bad idea, as they have the GCMS and the security is not retracted for most of them. Which gives your a fair idea as to when the security actually commenced. This along with your CSIS report, you can then gauge how many months you have been in SS, and compare it with applicants who share the same VO or the country of origin with you.

Requesting CSIS or CBSA notes is a personal preference, some do, some just wait it out. But requesting them doesn't hurt.

Is there a criteria how and which applicants get selected for SS or is it just completely random?

In SS, theyre basically confirming whether u a drug/human trafficker, studf like that right ?

What if the most innocent guy in the world gets selected for SS? It just sounds a bit ludacrus that all these top security officials are crazily doing all these massive checks for months only to find nothing ...but there’s still shootings and murders all over the country by people who are already citizens who didn’t have to go through express entry! Shouldn’t they be focusing these efforts on more important issues ?

No offence to anyone just my take.
Read the first 2 pages of this thread. IF you still have questions, ask.

My security checks were initiated on May 18 2018. How much time should I expect to complete the security checks? My spouse's security checks are already passed.

I read and came to the understanding that it does seem like there’s some criteria for selecting for SS and not random.

Also, I’ve heard that another reason why your security takes longer is because of your file is randomly selected for misrepresentation investigation. Is this true?

If an application is being checked for misrepresentation do you know how much time it can take and at what stage this can occur ? Eligibility, security or criminality ?

Thank you
Your file won’t randomly be selected for misinterpretation because it’s like charging a person with a crime randomly. Plus misinterpretation is a break of law.

Misinterpretation only happens if your file is not consistent with the info you have submitted or recorded in the EE system. And I heard VOs are very careful in terms of giving misinterpretation because once you are given misinterpretation you will be inadmissable to Canadian immigration system.

For whether or not you are in SS, the best way is to order notes first and use the info in GCMS thread and identify if you are in SS. Otherwise, there is no way to find out if you are in SS.

The Security screening is all about information sharing with agencies. It is CBSA and cSIS who primarily foo it, but gather information from other agencies too. Based on the kind of program you applied, and the agencies policy the category is provided. Eg. The Syrian refugees has the highest priority recently.
Ok clear means my “priority normal” will take hudge time snif’

Thanks. One less thing to worry about.

I have ordered my notes and will see whether I’m in SS or not.

I’ve heard that sometimes gcms will not show if u r in SS or not. In that case, can I order CBSA notes as well if I have already ordered gcms ? Or should I wait to get gcms first and then order CBSA? Thanks
You can request CBSA notes, but better wait for GCMS and see what they have, before you request CBSA.

You are probably in security screening and that’s why IRCC puts extended one year due date on your file.
