Hello Legal Falcon,
I used to have a white blank page in my former GCMS notes in the "Associations" area , but in the new one the data is visible:

"organizations and entities" :

EE PNP triaged to IR
Tracking Overseas EE PNP cases sent to IR
Reason: Bucharest
Effective date: 2017/06/15
Status: Active

is this related to security screening?
note that the date is prior to the date of transfer to Bucharest VO.
My AOR is 31/05/2017 and still at NA2. I received my GCMS yesterday and even I have the same comments as of yours
EE PNP triaged to IR
Tracking Overseas EE PNP cases sent to IR
Reason: Other
Effective date: 2017/09/21
Status: Active
So, I would be grateful if you could shed some light on the matter

Hi @legalfalcon, please please help here!!!
I am Nov2015 PNP applicant. My background check should started on Jan 13 from atip of IRCC. I ordered atip with CSIS last month and receive a mail from them today. And they say my Security Screening Case is still in progress. Is this normal? Does this mean CBSA even have not start to process my case?

BTW, the following is what I see from my atip nodes with IRCC. I have 3 security activities in total.

ACTIVITY5:
UCI:
Name:
Sub-Activity Type: Secrutiry Screening
Field Name: Status
New Value: Not Started
Updated Date:2017/01/13
Updated By: BB01127
Office: Centralized Intake Office

ACTIVITY6:

Dear friends,
Do I understand it correct that background check is concerned with security and criminality and they don't check if you really studied in some university or really have been married and then divorced? I mean civil matters are not a part of background check? Only information related to security and criminality is requested from foreign governments?

First off, the 6 months processing time starts when your R10 is passed. So you are well within the 6 months standard processing timeframe.
This note only reflects the tracking of your nomination as you are PNP and a regular processing step. Nothing to be concerned about.

All files are vetted by CSIS and CBSA for security. Some files get stuck at CBSA and are delayed. This is mostly seen for applicants from some specific countries. Just because your file is at CBSA does not mean any negative impact on the processing of your application.

Usually before a file clears security, it has 4 SS activities as you see above.

Is info sharing part of background check?
Yes, Info sharing is a art of BGC. In info sharing IRCC will share and seek into from partner countries such as US, Australia, UK, NZ etc. This is a relatively quick process and only takes a few days.

BGC does not involve criminality, which is a separate process and solely based on the PCCs you submitted.

For education IRCC relies on ECA, for marriage, the documents an applicant submits.

The most important stage of the process is Eligibility, this is where IRCC checks if the applicant meets all the criteria for the program under which an application is filed.

To read more on the different stages of the EE processing see. -

So even though my bgc has not started according to gckey, can I consider it started since info sharing is complete?

Is it part of background check in family class apps too?

Hi legalfalcon, thanks for response.
But my file is stuck at CSIS from Jan 13 as my notes say security screening started by then.

My concern is my case is at CSIS, but CBSA has not start yet

Rely on GCMS notes, they are the most accurate picture of what stage your application is at.
