Hi, In my case I'm IP2 since at least 1 month or two am note sure, I was preoccupied with biometrics that I've just done Wednesday (aor 19 MARCH Mep 12 MAY). My question is : do biometrics affect Background check processing time ?

If biometrics are outstanding Criminality check in GCMS may show as In Progress (even though passed) until biometrics are completed, but your application will continue to progress in the meantime.

Thanks buddies for the answers, one more question: I'm an outland PNP ONATRIO, this gave me 600 points (pnp ok 3 march ITA 4 march). This could make my bgc shorter, but I read that it makes it sometimes even longer ?

I got the following update today:

The background verifications have not been initiated.
The security background verification has not been initiated.
The criminal background verification is currently valid.

Does anyone know what it means for background verifications to not be initiated when criminality is valid? Sorry if this has been covered already - it's a long thread!

Background verifications have 2 stages, criminality check and security check.

Thanks, so when they say that the background check is not initiated they are referring to the security check alone as the criminal check is valid?

There are 4 activities in my case in GCMS notes. How many activities are there before the security is concluded per your understanding? Thank you
Activity 1: created date, created by, updated date, updated by: all redacted.
Activity 2: created date, created by, updated date, updated by: all redacted.
Activity 3: activity type-Security; Field Name- Status; New Value & date - redacted; Office - xxxx city name of the IRCC office
Activity 4: Security; Not started;

If you know that you are in security screening there is no point requesting GCMS notes as the security related info is redacted in them.

The CBSA notes are exactly like GCMS with the exception that the activities related to security are not redacted. But it merely informs you of the dates. There are usually 4 security activities before the security is concluded.

The CSIS notes inform you of your application has been sent to CSIS and when it was sent, if they have concluded their investigations and sent the report to CBSA, which will then compile the final report and send it to IRCC.

But if you just wait patiently, the security for most applicants is done within 1-3 months.

If it takes longer, then there is no timeline that is there.

The CBSA and CSIS notes will help you know the dates, but not anything more.

Security is always redacted, and at the top right of the page you will have the corresponding section under which the info has been redacted. Usually it is s15(1).

If it is redacted, then most likely they are security related.

See on the top right corner, you will see a number, and this is the section of the Access to Information Act under which the security related info is redacted.

If your security has been in progress, and it has been over 2-3 months since your eligibility passed, this can indicate that you are in enhanced security screening.

Hi, thanks for reaching out. When security screening is underway or completed the information is always redacted and on page# 2 under the Assessment section Security will be blank as well. Most security checks are done in about a month unless in enhanced screening in which case it can take longer. You may just want to wait for sometime and raise a web form to see if the message reveals signs of progress/completion.
