Is the 48 hours still in force to apply for a passport after the Oath? or someone can apply the same/next day? as I read somewhere that you can apply immediately these days and a friend needs to go to the US right after the oath

if they tells you during the oath YES you have to wait 2 business day. its simple because they need time to update their system

I also noticed that ECAS was updated 2 business days after the oath. So that's probably when they update the system all the way through?

There was a post from one person (can't remember who) who had to travel soon after oath. They said they talked to the CIC staff at check in for the oath and they were able to put a rush on it so the applicant applied after 24 hours.

Advise your friend to talk to the CIC staff at check in to ask if there's anyway to rush things due to whatever important business your friend needs to attend to.

Took my oath Sept. 25th and the officer informed us that 2 days wait is no more required, we could apply a day after.

unless its an urgent travel its ok to wait.

Considering the waiting time such as; 1 year for citizenship, 3 years as PR, 1 year for PR processing. These are the minimum. So 2 days is nothing.

If travel through border from USA to Canada by private car need only canadian citizen certificate and ID card to get in Canada, if no canadian passport.
