I have decided to do a Diploma of Accounting online with McMaster University Continuing Education. They have many other programs that offer certificates or diplomas fully online. Check here: https://www.mcmastercce.ca/online

I will be completed with the course by 2020 which calculates my score at 458 by the time I am done since I have a degree and would be getting an additional diploma. In the meantime, I will continue to remain in the pool.

In any event, I would have a diploma that will be useful since my plan is to switch to the Accounting field so not a waste of money or time IMO.
Why don't you do ACCA instead for a shorter period ? F1-F3 could earn u one-year college certificate.

Are you in Canada? Isn't there in a requirement that if your education is from Canada, at least 50 percent shouldnot be distance?
No I’m in Nassau, The Bahamas. However, that requirement is if you want points for receiving a Canadian degree, diploma or certificate. I will still get points for having two or more degree, certificates, or diplomas.

I was thinking long term, once I’m done with the diploma, I can work towards the Canadian cpa. My original degree is in business management and needed to do many accounting classes to make up and mcmaster offered them all. I’ll still check on ACCA

Which one of them also evaluate professional certification?

@Jakilee

Did you get any updated news from WES regarding your one semester evaluation on ACCA?

Pls do share with us the final decision that WES would give you, thank you.

Can someone please enlighten me on the express entry????
1) give ielts
2) get ECA for highest education degree from any IRCC recognized institutions.
3) if you are married and want more points get above two done for your wife
4) need to have 3 yr work exp
5) create express entry profile which means you joined the queue, if your score is above cut off you will get an invitation to apply, then apply with all required documents

do research on all above points.

Hope is not a strategy!

After the nice low score of 413 last year, the number of hopefuls increased along with the things that happened in the US - too many ppl are applying (yes you and me included)

The regular ROH series threads are great to hang around and dream for the score to come down. While it will be great when it happens, we who are at the edge or the boundary need to strategize differently.

This thread is for those at 430-437 who want to take matters into their own hands and start to look at real ways to make a difference, network and share ideas instead of waiting for the score to drop

I realize that many ppl in this club will be in the pool for a year. This will give us our own space instead of the guys sitting at 439-441 who are just preparing their PCCs and medicals

Strategy no
  1. Have right NOC code for OINP HCP
  2. Learn French
  3. Try to get job offer with LMIA
  4. Try to get job offer from Canadian arm of your company. No LMIA required then to get work permit for a year as your company applies to CIC for the transfer. After the first year if they want to continue with another job offer for a year you get the 50 points. It's called intra company transfer category.
  5. PNP for other provinces?
    1. Atlantic Immigration Pilot Program
    2. SINP
    3. BC EE
  6. Australia - its easier nowadays than Canada - they have own point based system and accept IELTS!
  7. Drop spouse from application and sponsor after landing (for some cases)
  8. Add spouse (marry - Canadian spouse or one with Canadian education/experience and get additional points)
  9. Distance learning which will take at least 1 year to pass (Post Grad Diploma/MBA/Masters etc.)
  10. Attending full time Masters etc. in home country for additional points.
  11. Take IELTS AC & enter Canada with a Student visa / Hit a Canadian University - which upon completion would get a PGWP and then certainly ensure PR after a time
  12. Certain nationalities - you can try to go for Working holiday in Canada (that can be the way how to qualify for some provinces)
  13. ...
  14. ...
  15. ...
... Pls add
7.Drop spouse from application and sponsor after landing (for some cases)

What are the pros and cons for the above strategy?

So in the spirit of Plan B....

My CRS is 437, created April 2018.
I have a British passport, my husband has a French. We have 2 children on South African passports (Can get them French if we need to).

IELTS scores for me: L9 , R8.5, W7.5 S9.
Overall8.5

IELTS scores for husband: L8.5, R9, W7, S8.5
Overall8.5

I have a bachelor's degree, husband had secondary education only. Both WES assessed.

What are our options?
Study or learn French?

Anybody have experience with international Experience Canada Programme?

My NOC is 4032 (5years exp) and 0632 (1 year exp) and husband is 6221 (10 years exp)
Check on the forums if 6221 falls in high demand for PNP. Might be worth to make as main applicant also as a separate profile if it's allowed. Don't know more where I can help

The language stuff like French and further education is obvious anyways

Will seriously need to focus on increasing CRS after the no-draw of this week :(
Can someone kindly summarize how many CRS points are possible to get with TEF, along with the CLB levels? I thought there are 2 sections under which one can get points, but not able to understand it properly. I'm at Zero level, so realistically cannot expect to score much higher than basic level like CLB5-6 in a difficult language like French.

Hi,
Your husband has good English level and I suppose that he also speaks really well French since he has french passport. I would suggest that he takes TEF exam. With mininum CLB 7 in French it is posible that he may receive a NOI from Ontario under FSSW. But, he has to have work experience in NOC 0 A or B.

EDITED: I am sorry. I am reading the Guide and it says that a bachelor dregree is a must have in order to be elegible under FSSW. :(
So, I would suggest that it is you who takes TEF. But you need a mininum CLB7 (Intermediate)

Anybody who can guide on this query? @SumH12 you have quite good knowledge of TEF, will you be able to help?
