Hello @legalfalcon

It seems I may be in a peculiar situation. We (myself and wife) had our COPR expired in June 2020 due to COVID induced travel restrictions. Fast forward to today, we got our new COPR re issued last week and it has an expiry of May 2022. My wife is the primary applicant.

We have been trying to plan for a baby and we wanted to know what the implications could be if we are unable to travel before new expiry date due to pregnancy? Should we inform IRCC about pregnancy as soon as it happens and explain them our situation? Will they be accommodative and allow us to land post successful birth of a child? I am willing to having to return our current Visas and passport back to get new Visas along with new medicals, if need be

Thanks
J

IRCC can do nothing about the pregnancy. only after a child is born can you add the child to your application. Your COPR expired next year. You have a complete year to travel.

If you have a COPR, you should travel to Canada and land as a PR. Once you are a PR, you can return back to your country and stay in your country of 3 years, then stay in Canada for 2 yours and still maintain your PR status.

Canada has freedom of speech. You can criticize the government and IRCC, and that is your right.
To be precise:
Freedom of expression in Canada is protected as a "fundamental freedom" by Section 2 of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms. The Charter also permits the government to enforce "reasonable" limits. Hate speech, obscenity, and defamation are common categories of restricted speech in Canada.

To be even more precise, the enforcement of reasonable limits can only be done by the courts in its territorial jurisdictions.

Also, to understand what constitutes "reasonable limits" Supreme Court of Canada has clearly stated that "reasonable limits" constitute limits that are "reasonable and can be justified in a free and democratic society based on the balancing rights principle.

Limitations on freedom of expression, such as obscenity and child pornography laws, hate propaganda laws, and the law of defamation, have been upheld by the Supreme Court of Canada as “reasonable limits” upon free expression. However, fair criticism of a government can never be obstructed.

I can't travel immediately due to covid concerns and the fact that Canada has suspended direct flights from my country.
What I want to know is will it be helpful if we inform them my inability to travel due to a medical condition I. E. Pregnancy. Do note, my wife is primary applicant.

"Valid to: 2022/04/06" is the date until which your COPR will be valid. COPRs are issued for max 6 months to 1 years.

If your medicals and passport expire before that, the COPR cannot be issued beyond the expiry date of your passport.

Also, After you land and are admitted in Canada, or if you are already in Canada, you and receive a stamped COPR, it does not expire. The date above only reflects the date before which you have to land in Canada if you are outside Canada.
Thank you for clarifying that for me. I think i have one of the longest wait time for their PR as inland CEC who applied since Sept 2018. You have helped me find some sleep at night and strength to go about my days with what I was going through with IRCC especially after they refused my application over an error in law and fact by the previous officer in jan 2020. By the looks of my gcsm notes over the weekend, it looks like i will be able to put this stage of my life behind me soon. Thanks for always being online to help. Not all heroes wear capes. All the best to you really

Hi Legal Falcon and everyone,

Context: to avoid impacting the CSR score, my wife will be sponsored for PR status later after I receive my PR card in Canada. During the processing time, she will come to Canada by visitor visa with dual intention (waiting for PR card and visitor intention). And I already have a full-time job.

Question:
1/ Can she apply for OHIP while waiting for her PR application in Canada (visitor visa)?
1.1/ If not, what should be the alternative healthcare service recommended? Especially for having a baby?

Good Day !!!
Hi LegalFalcon,
I have nominated from SINP under NOC 2174 (Programmer - IT) and launched paper base PR application as outland applicant ... GOT AOR/BIO...
My question is I Have renew my CIPS (as u aware assessing body of IT proffessionals)... I have renew my membership few time ($350) ...
1. Is it mandatory requirement for PR application having a active CIPS membership ?
2. What is your recomandation to keep active CIPS membership by paying $350..on yearly basis .... ?
End of PR process, it seems faraway for outland applicants ... day by day...

Hello @legalfalcon I got Ecopr on 16th Aug 2021, now yesterday on 30th Aug we received PR cards for all my dependents but not mine, so what should I do plz suggest. Photo is still showing in review with IRCC on portal, for all of us. Thanks in advance

Hi @legalfalcon could you please give your response to my short queries? Its a bit urgent please. Thanks
I am a PNP-expresss entry applicant, but I wan to apply for CEC. Therefore, I have created GCKey using new email address to apply under CEC. I have some queries regarding new express entry profile could you please share your thoughts?

(1) Has applicant received a nomination certificate from a province or territory?
I already have nomination from Province and my PNP-expreess entry application is active for that nomination. In this case should I say Yes to above query?

(2) Has applicant applied for Express Entry before?
I already applied under PNP-Express entry. So, should the answer be YES?

Thanks for your time to answering the questions!

Hi @legalfalcon i have a quick question:

I am currently waiting for my pr and have an outland dependent whom i added post aor. He gave his medicals on 2nd march 2021. Is it possible to get the copr extended for him since he is planning to join me after april 2022. Since soft landing is not an option can we have his copr extended if we get the expiry date of march 2022.

Please advise
Thank you

Hi @legalfalcon ,

Firstly, thank you for always helping us with our concerns. On my recent GCMS notes, the last update says "referred to DN for review of 'Refusal'". Are they reviewing the reason for my previous visa application which was refused for being incomplete or is this current application set for refusal?

Everything else seems ok:
Eligibility: Not started
Security: Not started
Criminality: Passed
Info Sharing: Complete

Thank you very much for your help.

1. No.
You will have to obtain private health insurance, see https://bit.ly/3kEMX6k

Each PR card is processed separately. You can contact IRCC by webform.

DN refers to the domestic network, i.e. IRCC offices within Canada.
