@legalfalcon how does one know if security is started or no? Does it show “in progress” on gcms notes or will the IRCC agent be able to look it up for us?
Depending on where you obtained the GCMS from, i.e. IRCC or CBSA there can be differences in how security is disclosed. Security is always redacted by both IRCC and CBSA when it's completed. However CBSA will disclose it even when it's in progress. See this example from CBSA

You can also check CBSA's online version of the security screening manual https://bit.ly/3mqHP5I

@legalfalcon good afternoon, I am back to bother with another question. I had asked you if the letter from a lawyer/counsel stating the matter has being resolved was enough for IRCC. IRCC just got back to me and asked for the following: please upload your official documentation when it becomes available.

I now have those court documents but they sent me a PDF of 22 pages. Do i need to send all the pages or just the relevant part where it shows and proves to immigration that my matter has being resolved by way of a common law peace and charges dropped?

Happy to help!!

It depends on what all is there in the 22 pages. If the 22 pages have your entire record, then, i.e. the charge, filings, plea, etc. then you do not have to send everything, but just the judgment or the order issued by the Justice of the Peace would do.

However, if you have doubt, ask your lawyer, or send the entire 22 pages, no harm done. IRCC delays with criminal case documents and will know what to look for.

Thank you again for your swift response and for confirming what i thought and what my lawyer also just confirmed: Not the 22 pages are necessary as they want to see the final disposition i.e proof of resolution like you said.

Hi, do we need to go for medical exam when applying for citizenship application ?

No, medicals are not required for medicals since you are a PR and covered under the Provincial health insurance of the province you live in.

They have mentioned something related to medical screening while applying for citizenship

Permanent resident status
Regardless of your age, if you’re applying for citizenship, you must have permanent resident (PR) status in Canada.

This means you must not:

  • be under review for immigration or fraud reasons
  • be asked by Canadian officials to leave Canada (removal order)
  • have unfulfilled conditions related to your PR status, for example: medical screening

These conditions refer to if you were put on medical surveillance when you landed as a PR. These conditions are put when you become a PR and you should have met them. There is no medical examination when you file your citizenship application.

You are just a few weeks into the process and in end December there was not much movement any way due to Christmas holidays.

Usually it takes 45-60 days for MEP and BIL. Just give it some time and you will hear back.

Hi @legalfalcon.
Got an Email/update today.
“You application status has changes” but no changes in my profile. It’s my first time to get this update as usually it’s “your application has been updated”. do you have any thoughts on this?

@legalfalcon

I made a stupid mistake.

While I was submitting my online forms (AoR), misunderstood the question below and did not mention anyone from my family. After 13 days from AoR, IRCC asked for the Additional Family information form which was correctly filled and signed and uploaded to the system by myself. Based on GCMS notes, my eligibility is met at CPC-Ottawa. May my case considered as a misrepresentation? Or, I should not worry, as there is nothing about it in GCMS notes.

Please tell us about your immediate family members that have not been identified in the application.

This includes any parent, any spouse or common-law partner, any child including adult children, and any brothers or sisters. If the relative is deceased, provide the date of death.
• Check the list at the bottom of the form first to see the information you have already saved.
• When you click "Save and Add", each relative's details will be saved to the list.
• The fields will go blank to let you add details about another relative.
• Use the modify or delete button if you want to change details that you have already saved to the list.

This is what many call a ghost update, where you get an update but there is no change. this only signifies that there was a movement in your file. This is very common and during the processing of your request you may see 4-5 such updates.
